a simple explanation would be that its destruction was a hoax.

Of course, this is a tangent. The poll question isn't asking for an explanation that would strike some people as being plausible. It's asking which of the first two explanations is less plausible.

If I understand correctly you're implying that on Jan 1st 2010 the WTC reappear.

Such an event would be so incredibly extraordinary that I would it would be indefensible to support any conclusion over another without knowing more than that. All possibilities enter the realm of the plausible.

Though I'm confident many would place the event within some sort of divine framework such a belief would be dishonest. While divine intervention of some sort could be an explanation a true indifferent skeptic would be able to offer a compelling reason to support such a conclusion over any other.
