La comunidad musulmana Ahmadia anuncia su expansión en Guatemala
La comunidad internacional musulmana Ahmadia, que tiene un centenar de miembros en Guatemala, anunció hoy su expansión en el país con la apertura de centros en el interior y la creación de una fundación humanitaria para beneficiar a los pobres.

El director de las misiones musulmanes Ahmadia en Estados Unidos y Canadá, Nassem Mahdi, explicó hoy en rueda de prensa que a finales de noviembre abrirán la primera casa-misión en el departamento occidental de Quetzaltenango, y que poco a poco van abrirán centros en Quetzaltenango, Huehuetenango (noroeste) y Escuintla (sur).

La primera y única misión que tienen en Guatemala fue fundada en 1989 a 20 kilómetros de la capital, recordó.

Después de 20 años de presencia en el país centroamericano "la comunidad está creciendo y estamos muy felices por esta situación", añadió Mahdi.

I don't see anything wrong with religious charities when there are no strings attached. I have never seen a Muslim trying to convert others with their charity work so I am assuming they want to help the poor in Guatemala which is commendable.

Unlike a conservative Christian co-worker of mine who went to China to assist Evangelical dentists (friends of his) in providing services to the poor but giving them the "good news" of eternal life and salvation. And this salvation is more important than healthy teeth in my co-workers opinion.
