should have asked.
So, is the headline implying that some priests perform "real" exorcisms?
It would appear that way.And that it's perfectly legal for them to do so?
Apparently, but not when they also "create" the demons they're going to exorcise as well.Is this guy being charged with performing them, or performing them without authorization from the RCC?
From the gist of the article, it appears that he's being charged with "staging" shows. However, RCC authorization is needed for the "legit" ones. I'm pretty sure its so they can split the cash. The article's a tad unclear on that point.
Agreed. If that's the case, though, then the implication is that free-lance exorcisms are inherently fake, while those authorized by Superstition Central are somehow legit.
Pretty much everything which lies outside the RCC they consider to be "inherently fake." Those exorcisms authorized by Superstition Central I'm sure also have better production values. After all, they wrote the book on it.Also worth noting that in the U.S., evangelical preachers cast out "demons" routinely, and make millions at it—yet nobody ever charges them with fraud.
Yes they do, and no they don't get charged. How come?
Because there's no law against taking money from people who're too stupid and gullible enough to give it away. And, its tax deductible.========================================================================
