11. What does that mean? I found a computer board by putting in
wor wood-ramed. Were you talking about that site or something about God?
'
I read that I should change my screen resolution. I did check and it was real high so I put it down to 1024 X 768. When I tried 800 X 600 it was too blurry.

Anyway, I guess I'll try again but I can't get my money back from the first ones because they don't do that unless it is an EBAY problem.

2. Yeah, it goes off the page for me, it's too wide
I see the wood/gold frame at the top and to the left, but the right side, I have to scroll over to (which is not good, that's annoying, as you probably already know)

Maybe if you just paste the html here that you used, I can help you figure out what you need to change (basically, the "width=___")

4. I didn't use html, I used the program they have that just lets you type
and chose colors and sizes etc.

I want to take this down now. I paid extra money for that frame thing and just to use their site and it looks like that?

5. Me, personally, I prefer plain ads
Really, I do - when I get to those that have all this silly stuff, it annoys me, and especially if I have to scroll down through pages and pages of it just to finally get to the photo, which is the main thing that I want to see, followed by just the very brief facts - condition, etc, shipping, details - really just the minimum necessary. I can't stand the ads that have just paragraphs of text that basically says nothing.

Me, I'm a minimalist when it comes to ebay, both as a buyer and as a seller. But that's just me, I certainly can't presume to represent anyone else, that's for sure, lol.

But some people might like all the extra verbosity, so who knows. But there are so many things on ebay and for a buyer, usually has to look at dozens/hundreds of ads, it's best to make it easy for them, imho.

9. The thing is I like playing with the boarders. It's one of the few things
I like about putting up an auction. I don't think this one with the wooden boarders is too flashy. And you can see, (if it weren't fucked up) the pictures right next to the description as you are reading it.

If I did not get the thrill of selling something occasionally, (well my % is not that bad) I would not try and sell something that I make peanuts from. But like I said, it is fun watching the auctions - unless no one bids. :-(

6. Since you're selling some clothes, let me make another comment
Again, as a buyer, this is what I look for.

1) label, obviously, if there is one - a close up shot of the label is good; otherwise, a verbatim description of what the label says

2) fabric, either as described on the label, or if not on the label, then your best guess as to how the material feels/behaves. That's been the biggest problem I've found, is that the photo cannot always show what one needs to know about the fabric, and if there is no label to indicate it, it really helps to have a good description (does it wrinkle easily? is it sheer? etc)

3) Size - it is not enough to just put what the label size is, you will gain a huge advantage if you actually measure the item yourself, and put actual measurements! This is a huge factor that so many people overlook!

4) a description of the color/motif if the photo does not show it well (although the color should always be stated in the text for those who search by color)

5) don't bother adding info about what the item would be good for - and again, maybe this is just me, but it really bothers me when I'm looking at clothing items and it says that this would look great with x,y,z or whatever - because your buyer kind of already knows that, right? Don't waste words in your ads, you will lost the attention of your potential customers. Put the words that are critical to describe the item thoroughly, there are thousands and thousands of items in competition for eye time, so ever word matters.

I can't tell you how many ads I click off of so fast when I see there's way too much (unnecessary) info!

Hope this helps! :hi:

10. Thanks for the info! I never even thought about putting in the type of fabric.
I think I did the other things you said except the suggestion to not add suggestions about my fashion ideas.

13. Actually your ads were not at all bad in terms of what I was desribing
I was just posting my personal experience with clothing listings and the things I've noticed. The adding of the fashion comments is the least of my complaints, lol.

The biggest ones are fabric and actual size/measurements of the garment, regardless of the size tag.

Good luck!

I agree that selling is a real kick, I love doing it too -- but unfortunately at this point, I've become more of a buyer than seller, but I'm trying to change that, I have sooooooooo many things to sell! I'm one of those who gets tons of cool things at thrift stores with the idea to list at ebay, and then just never get around to it.

7. OK, but you know that your other item has the same problem?
I mean, don't stress about it for now, just be careful in the future - make it so it fits on the page without scrolling to the right (I rarely will scroll over, so I'd be gone if I saw that, unless it were such an extraordinary item that I really was looking for)

8. You mean the golden shorts with green and orange leaves???
This is so horrifying to me now. In order to talk to a human or send an email they direct you to a gazillion different links with tons of questions first. This problem is not one that is on the list!

It has to be my computer, or could be EBAY because I successfully put some up just a few weeks ago. my computer. I went through one of those "We'll give you a thousand dollars free" evil scams AFTER PUTTING THE LAST THINGS UP, (I think) and now I have all sorts of problems with this computer.

I've did disk clean up, spybot, Lavasoft Adware program, Ccleaner,

Now I am going through the misconfig and un-checking programs that are running during startup. There are so many new ones I could spit. This site btw is great for finding what you need to get rid of. He even has a part, (after you check about 6 programs) where he lists all the worms, trojans, and virus that can be screwing up your computer. You can disable them but I don't know how to get rid of them.

12. Yes. I don't necessarily think it is your computer
It seems to be the listing software that you are using. I don't know for sure since I don't use it, though.

The frame around the ad just runs off the right edge like the other one did. (I keep my monitor at 1024x768 so maybe it's just me). But you need to scale the page as a compromise in terms of sreen resolution (and I'm not sure what the current rec is - maybe on ebay in the help section they discuss this).
