Pure Unrefined Shea Butter
Shea butter is a staple of African pharmacopoeia. It is used as a decongestant for its draining properties and as an anti-inflammatory against arthritis and for soothing strains. It is also a wonderful healing agent, accelerating cicatrisation of wounds and burns. After one application, you can feel the product being absorbed by your skin immediately. Because of its amazing skin care and healing properties, shea butter has been used for centuries in parts of Africa.

5. I'm hooked on the stuff already...
I use it for muscle pain and arthritis pain, and it works almost immediately! I've been virtually pain free for a week now... and in the last 4 years since my accident, I don't think I've had 5 pain free days total...

I swear by it!

2. I love the stuff, but that is slightly overpriced
I've paid $5 a pound. The last time I purchased it I bought 10 pounds for $20 off Craigs list. I have enough now to last a few years.

4. Is it pure unrefined?
Is it a dark yellow color? Some people sell the refined product because they can cut it with other compounds. My friend imports 600 pounds every 2 months, straight from Ghana, and he can't get it for less than $13/lb, which includes all the shipping and importing fees.

I'm paying $17/lb, plus have to buy the containers and do the leg work trying to sell it, pay for web hosting, etc, etc...

I know what I'm getting with this.... and where it came from....

13. yes, raw shea butter

I will tell you that when I bought it on Craigs list, it was from a person who had purchased it in bulk and didn't know what to do with it. I wanted it for the price, so I didn't enlighten her. Occasionally, I'll melt a little in the microwave and mix it with a drop or two of my favorite perfume oil. It makes a nice all over body moisturizer.

15. You got a great deal, that's for sure..
Here's a site selling it for $23/lb + shipping
http://www.naturessheabutter.com/?gclid=CJ-mgvbkjZACFScXagod0gKpsw

Notice that they're also charging $14/half lb, plus shipping. With mine you're getting 6 oz (2 oz less) for $13.95, including shipping

Have you tried melting some and pouring into a lip balm container yet? I'm going to order some tubes like chapstik comes in and try them out too.... it works wonders on chapped lips also!

16. no, I havent tried it specifically as a lip balm
but I slather it all over myself especially daily, my face before getting dressed. I read that it also contains a natural latex type coating that protects. I've spent mega $$'s on moisturizers in the past and this stuff is by far the best.

3. I insist on shea butter in any of my hand creams/lotions anymore.
It makes a HUGE difference when the humidity is 6% and things start cracking.

7. You should try this then, I think you'd be amazed at the difference..
when it's been commercially refined and added to other compounds it loses most of it's natural healing properties...

6. Have you ever used shea butter?
I wonder if its topical effects could assist (radial) nerve regeneration.

9. I use it every day now. I'll tell you, I've had two major neck surgeries and have lots of nerve
damage. There's days when my neck feels like it's going to explode because the muscles get so tense and knotted. I also have arthritis and degenerative disk disease in my lower back, and this butter has actually stopped pain that I still had while hooked up to a morphine pump after both surgeries. NOTHING has touched the pain in my lower back... until I used some of this shea butter....

I'm sure it could help with the pain and inflammation around the nerve, but I couldn't even guess about the nerve regeneration itself..

11. Thanks.
I emailed the link to myself and will order some.

Inflammation is a major enemy of nerve regeneration.

One more question, though.

How does it smell?

12. The smell...
Well, I can't really describe the smell itself, but once it is rubbed in, I've never smelled it on myself. When you take a whiff of the container, it's not unpleasant or anything and certainly doesn't have the rank odor of Ben Gay, Icy Hot or anything like that. I'd say the smell is pretty much neutral and/or non-offensive. I haven't had anyone comment on the smell, and I use quite a bit of it since I first found out about it....

10. Thank you... I'm marketing and selling this myself. I know where it came from
and how it was made. I've seen some online cheaper, but you never know what you're getting when you buy it. Commercially refined shea butter loses 90% of it's natural healing properties through the refining process. Also, many of the lotions available use maybe 2% shea butter and mix it with cocoa butter or some other compound. This is pure, 100% raw shea butter, straight out of Ghana. My buddy does missionary work in Africa, and he imports and sells this to help fund his work...

Honestly, as good as this has worked on me, I wouldn't trust buying it from anyone else...

14. I'm bookmarking this...
I usually use refined shea butter because refining renders it fairly odorless, but when I run out of what I have I'm going to give yours a try. I make a coffee butter/shea butter soap and as I remember shea butter is fairly nutty smelling and that might actually make a nice combination. I'll definitely try yours - thanks for passing this along!

17. It is important for us to look for products that contain shea butter
not only because it is a great product, but because for many women in Africa selling shea nuts that they gather is the only way they have to provide food for their children.
