Just saw Monty Python And The Holy Grail movie. Very funny, but ending sucked

Many laughs, although the ending made no sense. The ending is not too importnat in comedies to me so I still think it was a great movie. Have you seen it?

2. I've seen it. It's pretty consistent with their TV series.

18. That's the ending of Life of Brian, not the ending of Monty Python and the Holy Grail
:-)

4. The ending was reminiscent of "Blazing Saddles" where the Fourth Wall
was shattered and "reality" introduced into the plot that was incongruent but incorporated nonetheless.

6. It's deconstructive humor. The point is to remind you not to take it seriously.
A point lots of Python fans miss. Comedies are supposed to have happy endings, which obviously didn't suit their tastes. It does kinda place the movie firmly in the 1960s mindset--the authorities come along and shut down all our fun.

A year from now you'll look back on the ending and see how perfect it is.

8. I love the absurdity of it
I first saw it when I was a teenager and went :wtf: After about five minutes of utter bafflement, I "got it" and it's been one of my favorite movies ever since. (It's even influenced my own writing style.) But you have to have a preference for absurd humor to enjoy it.

9. I actually like the ending
The ridiculousness of it fits right in with the rest of the movie.

11. the original ending
was to have them go to the Grail counter at Harrods.

Because you can get anything at Harrods.

15. Holy Grail was great, but I LOVED Spamalot!
I describe Spamalot as a blending of "Holy Grail" and "La Cage aux Folles".

Simply brilliant.

As for the ending, absurdity is par for the course with Python. Ever see "Brian" or "Time Bandits" (Gilliam and Palin)?

16. The Ending
Most people hate the ending the first time they see it, but it grows on you after a while. It kind of goes with the Python's history of not having a punchline. My problem is I have seen it too many times over the past 30 years and know almost every line. I probably need to avoid it for a few years and maybe it will seem fresh again.

19. Thought this film was magic as a kid, still love it.
Saw this at 14 and was utterly mesmerized. I'd always liked Monty Python a lot but to see the knight(Graham Chapman?) chopping the limbs off the still feisty dark knight was so amazing. They were always the best at messing with stereotypes in every way.

The script was released as a book at the time and I bought it and took it to school regularly. Much fun.
