CORONATION STREET

This December, Debbie Travis goes looking for the secret to Canada's love of Coronation Street as the longest-running drama on television celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Corrie Crazy: Canada Loves Coronation Street is a documentary about this cultural phenomenon. The longest-running drama on Canadian television turns 50 years old this year. Airing in Canada for almost 40 years, Coronation Street has attracted a legion of hardcore fans whose loyalty and devotion might seem strange to those who don't watch it. Even Snoop Dogg is a fan!

Canadian television host Debbie Travis, born and raised in the part of England where Coronation Street is set, has long been a fan herself. What she learns about the power of this little "soap opera" will interest and surprise everyone.

Corrie Crazy: Canada Loves Coronation Street airs December 9th at 8pm on CBC.

1. I've never seen it, but they talk about it all the time on a London radio station I listen to.
Like it's a family member or something like that.

2. We get Canadian TV in Michigan, so I watch it regularly......
..... and the funny thing is I despise soap operas. But I'm addicted to this one. ...... It's got to be all the working-class British colloquialisms.

3. I was addicted to "Eastenders." Great shows from across the pond and
of course, Canada...

4. I thought Coronation Street was a spin off of Eastenders.
