Long Lost Print Of King Kong Discovered In London Cinema
It seems that a rare print of the 1933 classic film "King Kong" has turned up in a rather unlikely place, buried in the wall of a London cinema.

During recent renovations to the Grosvenor Cinema, a worker named Ross McMillan was working on knocking down a partition wall in the projection room when he noticed something odd looking in the rubble. To his amazement he discovered that it was a copy of "King Kong." Not just any copy, mind you, a copy that has been missing from the vaults of RKO for more than seventy years. An original print, that may very well contain scenes cut out of the film, including the long-lost Lizard and Spider canyon sequences.

1. "£43,000 in late fees"?!
It's a great find, but I have to wonder why anyone would have brought up the "late fees" to begin with. What a knob!

2. I think they were likely joking
and would be more than happy to get that copy back so they could see if they can fix it up at all.

Remember that there are no :sarcasm: smilies to keep you informed on many sites.

4. If they really were joking, then I would think it would read like this:
"The rep at Universal jokingly stated that there would be £43,000 in late fees collected first." Just because there's no sarcasm-icon, doesn't mean they can't say it's a joke or sarcasm ;)

However, I don't put it past some narrow-focused bean-counter to have really (and seriously) said such a thing to begin with.

3. Here's hoping the Spider scene is there!
Won't get too many more chances to find it, after all...!

5. It would be awesome if the spider scene is in it
But I doubt that it is. According to legend, Cooper cut it immediately after the movie's first premiere showing, saying he felt it, "stopped the show cold."

In other words, I doubt very many copies of the very original print were ever created, much less survived to this day. The ones that ended up in England probably already had the scene removed.

But here's to hoping that I'm wrong...
