Usher weeps as Bieber dominates the American Music Awards
The 16-year-old sensation snags 4 awards, including artist of the year

Usher was in tears after losing two awards at the American Music Awards to Justin Bieber, including favorite entertainer of the year, the top AMA honor.

But Usher wasn't upset about his loss -- far from it. Instead, he was welling with pride over the success of his young protege, Justin Bieber, who was the night's biggest winner with four awards and the youngest performer ever to capture the entertainer award.

"To see Justin take the award -- having received that award before -- it was like an out of body experience, you understand?" Usher said backstage. "It was emotional. I don't cry that often, but I did. Hopefully it gives an indication of how hard we worked to build a career that hopefully will flourish and blossom over the years."

Bieber, who is signed to Usher's label, had a perfect debut at the American Music Awards, winning all four awards he was nominated for: entertainer of the year, breakthrough artist of the year, favorite pop/rock male and favorite pop/rock album for "My World 2.0."

1. I don't understand Bieber's appeal.
The real problem was how in the hell did Bieber win any of the awards?

5. If you've managed not to come across all his hype....
I want to live in your world. He was an internet/youtube creation that all the teen girls pushed to "super stardom" (apparently).

11. Because he sounds like a girl...
If you ever listen to his music and you don't know it's a boy singing
you'd automatically assume it's a girl singing.

My favorite Justin Bieber video is when he runs into a glass door. LOL

That is a guess. But my impression is he is Jesus to them or something.

ETA: I have a right to be condescending to Beiber and his fans because I never did anything embarrassing when I was young. nope. Pure as the driven snow.

13. If you're old enough to remember teeny bopper pop idols of the 70's...
...mix one part David Cassidy, two parts Shaun Cassidy, a jigger of Bobby Sherman, and smother that with about a half gallon Essence of 12 Year Old Girl, and VOY-LAY...Justin Bieber!

4. He sells a lot of records.
The popular music market is dominated by 13 year old girls. If that demographic embraced schmaltzy cocktail lounge music, Liberace's corpse would have been put up on that stage to accept the awards.

8. Selling records doesn't make one good.
Although it could probably be correlated.

I remember Macy Grey and Amy Winehouse sold a lot of albums, but they were horrible singers.
