The freeping of Dancing With the Stars --
The slow-moving mess that is Bristol Palin gets voted forward based on...what? Merit? No. Based on her MamaBear's "popularity".

She's a lousy dancer, and given the fact that she's gained weight since the program started, it's doubtful that she's working hard in rehearsal.

Just saying.

BTW, please don't bother to post "Who cares about Bristle Palin?". Just move on.

1. If she ends up "winning" they might as well get rid of the judges
It is just a popularity contest. Maybe Lindsay Lohan can go on next and 'win'

every season so far, so changing it would end ALL credibility for these judges. There will - MOST LIKELY - be no phone-in or email voting.

4. I would like to thank the Tea Party for ruining a nice show
People are pissed over at ABC.com. It's not Dancing with the people who are Daughters of Famous People. It's Dancing with the Stars. And Brandy was robbed. She was so emotional last night. As she should be. Oh and Bristol is a little twit:

http://blog.zap2it.com/thedishrag/2010/11/dancing-with-the-stars-maks-never-said-he-didnt-like-bristol-palin.html

Maks spoke with press after his and Brandy's elimination, and he thinks all the talk is a result of the persona he's developed on the show.

"A lot of things just stick," Maks says. "Most recently, there's Bristol saying that I didn't like her. I never said that. I want people to understand that I'm just here as a dancer. That's all I am."

He might be referring to a story In Touch ran. "Maks does not like me," she told the magazine. "He thinks I don't deserve to be here because I'm not the best dancer."

Hollywood Life also claims a "'DWTS' source" says Maks was depressed Bristol had made it this far, but the pro maintains he's been more focused on his own star.

Bristol didn't bring up the matter backstage after the "DWTS" elimination. And when told about Maks's denial, all she had to say was "Good to know."

Good to know. Who does she think she is??

6. But It Keeps Drawing Viewers...
The real winners of this show are the producers. The higher the ratings the more money the show makes and that's all that matters. Seems like there are a lot of people who tune in hoping to see Grifterlla Jr. fail and as long as that happens, she'll dance on.

25. These Shows Have A Short Shelf-Life...
...it's all short-term thinking here cause next week or next season the bottom could fall out. Some newer fad will draw people away. In full disclosure I have never seen this show...not my cup of tea, but as an observer of pop culture I've seen these things come and go. Seems like this show has been kinda a freak show from the outset as it looks for the brown shoes to fit with the tuxedo.
Also...isn't the number to vote a 900 number? More money...strike while the iron is hot.

Cheers...

35. Nah
At first I was going to agree with you, but DWTS is extremely popular and there's a the recent survey saying republican's love the show. Besides, Palin Jr. has been great for their ratings and by the time the next round starts, people will have forgotten or won't care. The big-wigs at ABC are probably trying to think of a way to get Bristol to be a judge or host, co-host perhaps?

only slower on the uptake. The judges decide who wins on merit in the final show when no freeperage can load the vote. Just another instance of election fixing by Teabaggers. Brandy is the dancer who earned a place in the finals.

It's been alleged that the Tea Party's "Operation Bristol" is keeping the teen mom in the competition. However, the real conspiracy is that her conservative supporters have figured out a way to exploit ABC.com's email-voting feature, allowing infinite votes. More »

9. I have to admit DWTS
has become one of my guilty pleasures though I've never called in and voted before. I'm going to vote next week and vote for Jennifer Grey, the obvious winner. I still can't believe Brandy is gone. I've nothing against Bristol Palin but this is a COMPETITION and, if this were a legitimate process, she would have been voted off long ago. I think the judges should be the ones determining who should stay and who should leave.

13. At least she admitted it
that it's because of her mother and the teabaggers, not talent, that's she's still on the show. Seeing Adrina Patridge sent home before Kurt Warner shows that the show has little to do with actual talent, but with viewers' votes. To make it more fair, the scores should count 2/3 and votes count 1/3, IMO.

P.S. This has been one of the worst seasons yet. :banghead:

Father Palin (Todd?) - next season
Sarah Pain - two seasons from now
Levi Palin (I know he isn't a Palin)

They could have a complete Freepout!

If DWTS ever does this kind of crap again, I think it might as well rename itself Dancing with the Palins

The Palin clan and followers have completely corrupted the show!

DWTS is supposed to be about talent and she knows it. She could get through the first couple rounds thinking "maybe it really looks better than it feels" but it would not take long for her to realize that she is not advancing based on her skills. That would explain the weight gain - depression and undermined confidence, resulting in overeating.

This is hurting her, and that is sad to see happen to anyone - she's being victimized by her mother's agenda.

59. Controversy sells.
That's it, in a nutshell. And in this situation, it's selling on 2 levels. One, her mother's popularity-slash-notoriety, as you mention.

But on a second level, there is a sense of "faux outrage" over the fact that week after week people tune in to see her get shitcanned and she walks away every time, and the other day...during the homophobic slur incident...she was making statements like "bring it on, haters, it only makes me more determined."

In short, she's her mother.

And she seems to like the spotlight just as much as her mother, and until D.W.T.S. turns out the lights, she'll only get worse. Then she'll go somewhere else, and by the time her mother is in jail or institutionalized, she'll be running for president.

The American people have odd priorities when it comes to the concept of "celebrity." We like to keep rewarding the worst of the worst, the lowest of the low.
