1. Even though most folks here hate Arnie
I always wanted to see him try his hand at King Conan: Crown of Iron. Obviously he doesn't have the acting range but what the heck - he is the right age and now has executive experience.

Much better as an actor than as a governor.

2. You're right about his acting prowess.

He looked good in the role though. I'm not holding out any hope this remake will be any good.

3. I tend to agree - looks like a pretty boy Conan
Conan was not a pretty boy. You need the build, but they made Robert DeNiro look buff for Cape Fear. Someone like that in the role would be the ticket.

I think this is a $1 Redbox special.

4. The look of this Conan doesn't bother me too much.

It's what passes for fantasy entertainment. I'd love to see a good interpretation of Robert E. Howard's Conan not a remake of the 82' Conan, that I did like btw.

5. Actually I thought the 82 movie did capture the spirit
of Conan but not the depth (Arnie's limitations and the script).

When I said pretty boy I guess I was more talking about the depth of acting ability. I don't know anyting about this guy, but I would like to see a serious actor take on the role (like a DeNiro). I do see that he is also Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones so I hope he is good otherwise he will mess up my most eagerly anticipated movie (actually miniseries) next year. I guess I should go watch some Stargate Atlantis before making any decisions.

6. I have my fingers crossed on this one.
I like the pics we're seeing from it, and the people doing it seem to be inspired more by Howard's stories than by the comic books. The first movie was pretty good, and at least captured the spirit of the novels. Hopefully this one will, too.

And that last pic looks like pure Barry Windsor Smith! Hos Conan art almost always had a younger and leaner Conan. It was good stuff. :)

8. Smith's work was perfect for the young Conan.
Some his artwork in the black&white Conan comics were stunning in their detail.

9. Is it a remake? There are dozens of short stories and of course the comics
to choose from.

10. That's what it's being called but I hope it isn't.

You're so right, there's a wellspring of material they could choose from.
