Just saw Avatar AKA Dances with lizards
I should be getting tired of this white man's burden crap, but I loved it. Just what I needed after enduring the blitzkrieg of Transformers 2.

No spoilers, but we loved it. It isn't a deep story-- it's standard good vs evil on another planet, with Cameron's signature corporate badness thrown in, ala Aliens. But DAYUM! Avatar is visually STUNNING. And unlike many CG rich sci-fi flicks that use CG for accents-- effects, as they say-- Avatar is SET there. The stunning CG is everywhere. The landscapes are phenomenal, and not just in the distance.

We're both probably going to see it again. I've done a fair bit of sci-fi landscape modeling and rendering as a hobby, but Avatar unleashed the pros. It is amazingly well done.

3. Those who say it isn't preachy aren't quite right.
There's little speechifying in the movie, but there are obvious references to the Bush doctrine of preemptive war and "shock and awe". Cameron didn't have to go there. Can't say I mind, but the neocons won't be pleased.

2. My friend and I just saw it, too.
Mind-boggling visually, a tried-and-true storyline, and some good acting; James Cameron delivers the goods yet again.

5. Just saw it myself last night. "Dances with Lizards" is pretty appropriate.
The 3-D was amazing, sound performances, predictale story, but at least the dialogue is one step up from George Lucas.

10. Haha
I saw this in IMAX 3D the other day. Visually, it was the best movie I've ever seen, definitely an experience unto itself. I thought the story was ok, I don't hate on it as much as I've heard others say, but "Dances with Lizards".... man, that is spot on!
