Duggar Baby Born Prematurely Due to Pregnancy Complication
Source: People

Michelle Duggar's 19th baby was born prematurely at 1 lb., 6 oz., because Michelle suffered a rare condition during pregnancy that causes high blood pressure, her doctor says.

The condition, preeclampsia, which affects 5 to 8 percent of pregnancies, was discovered when Michelle was admitted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to evaluate pain related to a gall bladder problem, says Dr. Paul Wendel, director of the hospital's Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

1. A woman her age has no business having babies...
Mother Nature has told her so, in no uncertain terms.

5. I've wondered if Elizabeth Edwards's health problems came out of her late life pregnancies
On top of whatever hormones she had to pump into herself to have a child at age 49 and 51, just having a baby at that age had to be stressful.

12. And younger women have no business having abortions
If the babies are healthy, then Mother Nature is telling them...oh, wait a minute. Abortion is a choice you agree with, so it's okay. Apparently choice is only a good thing when you think someone is making the "right" choice

16. That's an all purpose retort that will fit any argument, any political persuasion
As long as you know what is right and what is wrong.

15. Mother Nature let her get pregnant. And Mother Nature gave me a serious problem
with my first pregnancy when I was in my twenties. Does that mean I had no business having children either?

Anyone who is young enough to have a natural pregnancy isn't too old to have a natural pregnancy. The issue is how many children, not her age.

19. she was born in 1966 according to JimBob's Wiki entry
so that would make her 43.

Personally, I don't think her age was the main issue.

3. i hope their baby is ok, anyone know if her having been pregnant
Edited on Fri Dec-11-09 07:43 PM by JI7
so many times before could have had anything to do with this ?

i also wonder if she is taking anything to help her get pregnant. not that it's impossible but as she got older it might have been more difficult to have kids and they might have started getting treatment.

6. I hope the child survives and doesn't have too many complications

but I am disgusted with the Duggars selfishness to the rest of their children. The glamorization of this family is one of the things I hate about this decade.

The mothers body is basically failing her but we can pretty much guess she will be pregant again in a year. She will have her girls take care of the babies.

7. Hopefully the baby will be OK but also
hopefully this one will be her last. I've watched their show because of the bizarreness of their beliefs and have to admit that as people I find them likable but I still think they're NUTZ. :-(

8. I had severe pre-eclampsia 26 years ago, but they kept me in the hospital til she was at
30 weeks. Hard to believe they still haven't found what causes this or a cure. I feel for the baby - all her kids - but this is one woman who needs a tubal litigation.

14. Duggar herself is the poster child for birth control, a shameless, greedy and selfish loon
... and now she's likely to be saddled with a kid who will be plagued by physical and developmentyal problems.

Way to go, Duggar. You make me puke.
