Last night I watched the premiere of the New American Gladiators. I was rather disappointed with the show. I had watched the first version of American Gladiators when I was younger. I thought the first version was really good. In the first version the competitors and the gladiators seemed to be fit and strong. In the first version, on the men's side for the gladiators the men seems to be big, buff, and ripped. They also seemed to be strong and fast. On the women's side the women seemed to be ripped with muscles. In addition, they seemed to strong and hard hitting. Also, in the first version the competitors seemed to be better. Last night was different.
In terms of the competitors on the new American Gladiators, they seemed less fit then the competitors on the first version of American Gladiators. The competitors and the gladiators did not seem to be prepared. In the first hour, both the women competitors looked like they were about to dropped during and after the eliminator. In the first version of American Gladiators the competitors were tried at the end of the show, but I do not recall any of the competitors looking as if they were about to drop during the eliminator. I do not think any of the competitors ever looked like they were too tried to finish the eliminator. Throughout most of the show I was asking myself did the competitors even participated in any physical activity and were these competitors even tested before they were allowed to be competitors on the show. The second group of women seemed to do a little better, but it was still somewhat disappointing due to both the female gladiators and the events.
The male competitors were also disappointing due to the play of the male gladiators. In the event, Powerball, the gladiator Tor got beat just about every time someone took him on. During this event, I was thinking the competitors just need to try to go to Tor, they will be able to score. The guy who went on to win the first male competition scored 12 points in Powerball, most of them against Tor. Second, in the Gauntlet the male gladiators barely seemed to put up any competition to the male competitors. It was as if they were only supposed to hold to men at each point for a certain amount of time.
There is some other stuff I did not like about the show including the hosts (more so Hulk Hogan than Lalia Ali), the events, and other things, but I will stop things here in that I have so much to say, but I do not want to make the post too long. I will just say I was rather disappointed by the new show. I thought it was not as good as the first version for a number of reasons. Hopefully, the show will get better as the season progresses. So, what do other think.
