What's your favorite Joe Walsh song ?
One of mine is "Pretty Maids All In A Row" by Walsh and Vitale

Hi there,
How are 'ya?
it's been a long time
My, but we learn so slow
and heroes, they come
and they go
and leave us behind as if
we're s'pposed to know why
Why do we give up our hearts to the past?
and why must we grow up so fast?

And all you wishing well fools
with your fortunes
someone should send you a rose with
love from a friend,
it's nice to here from you again
And the storybook comes to a close
Gone are the ribbons and bows
Things to remember places to go
Pretty Maids all in a Row
Oh, oh oh, oh...

:)

1. I think my favorite is
Meadows. I won't post the lyrics, because they're kind of non-sequitur and relatively meaningless, but the hook in that song is one of the best hooks that guy ever wrote.

18. It is classic Walsh, IMO
I saw him back in the Barnstorm days...
he is a genius with an axe.

3. My favorite is off the Confessor album
It's called Problems..
"Hey now, did ya ever have one?
Have a problem
That you could not solve?
What did you do?"

Can't remember all the lyrics but you get the gist of it.. all problems can be solved... Also love the song Confessor

6. "All night Laundry Mat Blues"
OK OK maybe not. I loved the James Gang when he was with them. But I suppose the top two in my book may be "Rocky Mountain Way" and "In the City", from the movie "Warriors".

13. I love 'In The City' too.
Was that recorded during the time he was in the Eagles (or was there more than one version cut of it)? I seem to recall the version I heard the most often on FM radio back in 'the day' that the backing vocals sounded a lot like Henley/Frey/Schmitt backing vocals, but I can't find anything on Allmusic other than a citation of the song on a Ringo's All Starr Band compilation (of all the freaking places for the song to show up!).

7. Life's Been Good
Just a fun song,,,,

I saw the Eagles in Phoenix,,,, Joe Walsh sang this solo, flubbed the words but the audience was singing along and didn't miss a beat!!

16. another vote
It's a nice antidote to listening to Jackson Browne or Bob Seger whine about how tough life is on the road. (... and I actually like Seger, at least). Joe Walsh is willing to admit he has it good and have a laugh about it.

Waffle Stomp (from Fast Times at Ridgemont High)

I think just about everything he's done has been excellent!

11. How about
"Tend My Garden"
and
"Ashes to Rain and I"

Sometimes I sit and I stare at the rain
Isn't rain filled with sorrow?
Wonder if I'll see my home again
Will it be dry tomorrow?
Time passes softly and I'm a day older
But still I m living days gone by
Ashes to ashes, the rain's turning colder
Finding tomorrow, the ashes, the rain and I

12. County Fair
In the classic Walsh mode, with a very pretty and melodic opening, cryptic / enigmatic lyrics, a slowly building, all-hell-breaks-loose solo in the middle, and a return to the sweet stuff at the end.

STILL amazes me to this day.

Isn't Joe riding a limo through a garbage dump in the video for that song?
