Any Helene Hanff fans here?
In addition to "84, Charing Cross Road", I've read (and own) "The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street" and "Q's Legacy".

I also have a book called "The Library of Helene Hanff - A Catalog of Her Collection" by Stephen Pastore. I understand that he also wrote a book called "Helene Hanff: A Life in Books", but I haven't found a copy of that (yet!)

Tim

1. Anne Bancroft
Her recent passing sent me to watch "84 Charing Cross Road" again. It absolutely paralyzes me, it's so wonderful.

I found this - http://tinyurl.com/bhh8v - and you might want to contact Yale Books. My guess is that the book hasn't been written yet.

Good for you, Tim.

2. It's funny that you mentioned Anne Bancroft....
We lost our cable service earlier this evening (due to a thunderstorm) so I pulled out my VHS copy of "84 Charing Cross Road" and watched it while I was folding laundry (which prompted me to make my original post).

And you're right - its a wonderful movie. As I understand it, Mel Brooks bought the film rights to the book and gave it her (Anne Bancroft) as an anniversary gift.

My wife and I are taking the kids away this weekend, so I think I will take all of my Hanff books with me so I'll have something to read in the evenings.

Thank you for the link to Yale books, I'll have to contact them to see where things stand with the Hanff biography.

Best,

Tim

4. Here's a link...
If you're interested in the history of the actual bookstore (and to see what "FPD" actually looked like):
