LOL the villain has a ranch in Crawford Tx :)
I just got done reading the third book in John Sandford's Kidd series "Devil's Code" and the main villain has a ranch in Crawford.

Kidd is an artist/ computer hacker and with his partner Luellen (breaking and entering R US) are off to correct another wrong. :) The Kidd series first two books were written in the 80s and then Sandford started his Prey series. In 1999 he wrote the third book "Devil's Code"

The first book had people with PCs with floppies only, the second added hard drives. The third updated to the Internet. :)

In the third book the NSA plays a big part but Sandford does not have a good opinion of them.

1. I'm a big Sanford fan...
Read all the Prey series, and the Kidd series as well.

Of course, his main character in the Prey series is a cop who just happens to be a gamer and a game designer.

My kind of guy.

3. They're good...
I also highly recommend Robert Tenenbaum (I think that's the spelling)... A little like Law and Order with some real twists. Damn funny too.

I write fantasy but I read a lot of suspense these days.
