Dean Koontz
So just wondering any Dean Koontz fans around here? If so what are your favorite books of his? Personally I really like Watchers and Lightning.

2. I never read
Life Expectancy and only the 1st book in Frankenstein but I may give them a shot here soon. I just finished Relentless the other day it was pretty good if kind of "out there" even for him.

3. Overall I love his books, but recently he's gone around the right-wing bend.
There's way too much proselytizing against liberal ideals in his recent books, and also more religion than I feel is needed, just dressed up in a non-denominational, warm-and-fuzzy kind of sheen.

According to Wikipedia, he's also a big supporter of conservative candidates and issues.

Just stupid. He's got too much money and been around too long to fall for this junk.

4. Yeah
I kind of saw that in his latest book he talked about taking back the world from those who "value theories over truth and Utopian ideas over people" Seeing how Utopian is sometimes a smear word used against socialists I kinda of wondered. But I will give him credit he does have a knack for making u see good even in bad situations.

And I just bought Watchers for my son. Dangit.

5. I Liked Strangers
I liked Strangers and Lightning. I agree with some of the other people posting that his "later" works seem to be right-wing screeds. Also, they all seemed to be the same - government conspiracy, people who were utterly evil because their mother did drugs/they were spoiled by liberalism, they were satanists, blah blah. I got tired of it years ago and stopped buying his books.

I used to read his books, but have turned to nonfiction lately. Did he have one called Whispers?

8. Latest
It is a tradition here for my daughter to give me his latest in hardcover for X-mas, so I read it, "Breathless" it is typical Koontz, I used to go out an buy all of his stuff as soon as it hit the market but have been getting pretty disillusioned with him lately.... The Frankenstein series is not bad, Corner of his eye is pretty good mostly has gotten too far afield from writing fiction to including political asides in the dialogue...

11. Long-time fan.
His political views baffle me, though. Nothing in his books, which I've been reading for more than 10 years, prepared me for learning that he's a right-winger. Huge disappointment -- and it seems so inconsistent with most of his themes. The first time I noticed it in his writing was the last book of the Frankenstein trilogy, and I almost threw the book across the room.

So many favorites, but the Odd Thomas trilogy and Frankenstein trilogy come immediately to mind. Too many others that I'm fuzzy on the titles of at the moment. Oh, yeah -- By the Light of the Moon, too.

Recurrent themes of "folding" time/space to move from place to place, as well as autistic and/or seemingly mentally disabled people being tuned in to other realms/powers are among my favorites.

14. Yes. It's a trilogy.
I read the third book at least a month ago. It's quite good, except that he tosses some blatant RW political digs in a few places, the first I've actually noticed.

It's been so long since he finished the second one, that i finally stopped keeping my eyes open for the third. I'll be sure to snap it up next time I'm near a book store.

15. His books are totally readable and instantly forgettable.
So I can't tell you which one I liked best. I've read a bunch and enjoyed them all, yet can't remember a single one. :)

17. From the Corner of His Eye and Strangers stand out in my mind.
I've read a lot of them and listened to some on audio cassette. I don't care a damn about his politics; his books are entertaining, that's the bottom line. He's only gotten better with age.

20. Love all of Dean Koontz's books.
My favorite was The Watchers. Too bad the movie did not follow the book.
