My one holiday pleasure.
I worked retail for a brazillion years so I got over the holidays a long time ago. I usually celebrate with family and friends in July.
However, there is one book that I read many times during this season and it never fails to make me laugh, a lot. It's 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." The movie doesn't do the book justice at all.

It's a kid's book, and a fast read. However, it gets to the heart of what specifically the 'Christmas' season is really about. It does so in a hysterical and touching fashion. There's not a drop of preaching in it in my opinion.

My religious views are all over the map. I see so much fuss about Christmas that I don't think has anything to do with the real story. A lot of 'religious leaders' use it and everything else to further their views and goals. That's why I enjoy this book so much. It does away with the claptrap around this time, and I think it takes back the real meaning of the story that so many people of faith have forgotten.

I hope this doesn't turn into a flaming thread over the value of religion or the harm it does or doesn't do. I enjoy the simplicity and hilarity of a different version of an old story.

2. No flames, here.
My husband and I just don't do it anymore and haven't for a few years anymore. Glad there's something about the holiday left for someone to enjoy. :hi:

3. Well, there is
Egg Nog!

I still work retail and have for a brazillion years (like 36 of them) and the holidays are a pain in the (insert your favorite term here).

Yet this is the season of Egg Nog which I love

and while I really don't care for all the hoopla... It still has a few special moments and meanings.

8. Well, I did not know they existed on a King Flour site...
and will probably try them, too. But I will be stealthy.

Although my brother said he doesn't think scones should have anything in them. I may makes some eggnog scones without the chips for him.
