Anyone watching 'Comanche Moon' tonight? Larry McMurtry fans?
A TV miniseries based on the novel by Larry McMurtry, the third in the Lonesome Dove series. He and Diane Ossana (who co-adapted Brokeback Mountain with him) worked together on this one as well. I love Steve Zahn, not sure he can pull off Gus McRae like Robert Duvall did (in Lonesome Dove), but I am hoping he does it better than David Arquette did McRae in (in Streets of Laredo). Can you tell I'm excited? It starts tonight at 9p-11p, (8 central) and apparently is in three parts.

1. i'm recording it on my DVR. want to read the book first.
Lonesome Dove was absolutely the best western I have ever seen, bar none. Best western book I have ever read too.

5. All the books are good
but imho none are AS good as Lonesome Dove. It was just such a beautiful story. So far I'm pleased with the big names in this movie and the screenplay. Looks like they didn't spare expense on costumes and locale. Anyone know where it is filmed?

2. i'm watching
but i read Streets of Laredo, and i thought Gus was dead by then? It was just Call and Pea in the book.

i didn't know it had been made into a movie. I went to the video store to look for any other installment of Lonesome Dove, but they had none other. So i opted for 'Broken Trail' w/ Duvall.
