Would anybody be interested in joining a DU book club?
How about one book (fiction) is chosen each month, and at the end of the month a new topic will be started where we can post our thoughts on the book? Maybe it's a stupid idea, and I obviousley dont have all the details worked out, but if anybody is interested in joining, post in this thread! If more than 5-10 people sign up, we can work out the details.

5. Interested.
This would mean that I can remain addicted to the internet while getting back to reading fiction.

6. As long as it's rather loose, I'm interested
I'm reading a fiction now, and I have non-fictions I can recommend. The fiction is "Shogun"... so, I'm not sure I'll be through in a month! I'm learning MUCH by reading it, and it's worth a review.

Maybe a section at DU exists for this already???

After Shogun, read Tai Pai.

10. We had a DU fiction club a few years back....We read
"The Handmaid's Tale", "The Grapes of Wrath" and "A Confederacy of Dunces"-maybe one or two more-before it faded out. If you get enough interest, I'd love to participate.

I think there's far more than the 10 people needed for approval.

I think this is a great idea.

32. Yes, I'd be interested.
I would prefer to read quality writing - literature - vs. sci-fi, Oprah books, etc. I am in a couple of book clubs now and get kind of frustrated with the fact that people simply will not focus on how well a book is written, character development, etc., but just seem to read what everybody else is reading, or use the book club as a venue for reading stuff on their personal "to-read" lists. I also enjoy reading poetry.
