Slot machine manufacturers need to manufacture voting machines
Think about it....from all indications, slot machines have a much higher accuracy rate than electronic voting machines. If they are not accurate virtually 100% of the time in keeping track of the money put in and the money paid out, it would be a constant free-for-all between the casinos and the casino patrons. The newer models even produce a receipt for you when you cash out. Yep, I think we need to talk IGT, Williams and the other slot companies into manufacturing voting machines. It's a sad, sad day when the slot machines are more accurate than the voting machines.

5. At least we would have better odds!
After all, the slot machine companies have a reputation to uphold.

2. I've got a better idea
Why not paper ballots?

They are the least susceptible to fraud, and can be recounted as often as you like. The only disadvantage is that the result is not available instantly, but takes a few hours. An honest election is worth that price.

Not every problem requires a technical solution.

3. I agree... but "a few hours" is wildly optomistic.
120 Million votes will take a little over a few hours.

A few days is more likely.

Still worth the wait.

4. Plus you have eyewitnesses
Every person counting ballots is also a witness to the ballot count.

The more witnesses, the less potential for fraud.

7. Then they need to count the ballots like casinos count the cash
You want witnesses? They have plenty in the count room. The activity log on the machines has to match the receipt log that shows how much was paid back to the patrons, plus the take log has to match the amount of money that is being taken from the machine. All this is being recorded by numerous bonded employees, plus every inch of the count room is under video surveillance. If anyone is caught stealing cash or altering the logs, they are immediately arrested. Sounds like a winning solution to me.

6. Destroy the machines!!!
There is no better method than hand counting.

I don't think it is a disadvantage having to wait a few hours.
That way you will have an ACCURATE result by midnight and not 2 months later.

8. Actually I think casino security designers
would be usefull to design the proceedures for balloting and counting. They are the ones that came up with some of the "rituals" that dealers perform to make it clear they aren't diverting chips in any way (things like showing the cameras empty hands, wearing aprons that cover all your pockets, clear tables in the money counting rooms, etc..)

Some of the things I think should be part of the ballot process include sealed "survey" cameras watching the activity outside the acutal booths.
