Question for researchers on Oklahoma - Tulsa World results
I've read all the threads, corrections, etc. and it appears that all are willing to let this drop.

What keeps running around in my head though, is WHY ON EARTH WOULD THE TULSA WORLD MAKE SUCH A STUPID MISTAKE? How could they possibly have listed results from a two year old election on cockfighting as the results from the 2004 presidential election.

I have to live with psychoCoburn as my senator and while I may be grasping at straws here.....doesn't it strike anyone as VERY VERY ODD that the TW would do this?? At the very least, shouldn't they have printed a retraction of their erroneous reporting? Did they? I subscribe to the TW (reluctantly--it's better than the J'Oklahoman) and did not see this.

Is anyone else intrigued/flummoxed by this goofyness?

2. Oh, I'm intrigued ...

And I'm irritated and just generally pissed.

Read my post today in the Oklahoma forum. I took note of irregularities on Nov. 2nd. I noticed more afterward. I started asking questions and offering opinions. I've essentially been told, by Democrats (liberals, moderates, all of them), to basically shut up about it. We, as Oklahomans, don't matter.

3. I did read your post and I'm with ya!
I believe that if anyone from any other state had to live with not only * but psychocoburn, they would sure as hell be shouting from the rooftops.

How do we find out WHY the TW did such a stupid thing? Think they'd answer our questions if we called?

6. I cannot believe Coburn won ...

I am just floored by that. I know hard-core Republicans who *hate* him, including my own fundamentalist family members who are so pro-Bush it made it hard for me to eat Thanksgiving dinner with them. We had a silent agreement not to talk about the election during dinner, but Coburn's name did come up because that's something on which we agree. It was the first time my uncle had ever voted for a Democrat.

If those people can't stand Coburn -- and I'm not talking a mild dislike here -- I just don't see how he got that much actual support.

Anyway, one of us asking the TW about it will likely get nowhere. If they give an answer, it'll be a canned answer. There is a guy in OKC that's on this -- he was the first to publicize it, IIRC -- so I'm sure he'll be asking questions.

7. Glad to hear that. Keep me posted
on what our friend finds out. My mother, a staunch * supporter, actually used the word "psycho" to describe Coburn before the election. I think I was more astounded at that outcome than the presidential election.

9. Same here ...
More on the same line, I know a lot of Oklahoma Democrats who voted for Shrub but also voted for Carson and did so for the reason mentioned by your mother: they think Coburn is a psycho.

Another thing I find particularly odd about that race is the "independent" candidate, some woman whose name I can't remember at the moment. I haven't looked at the final totals lately and can't remember them. But I do remember that with most of the vote counted, her votes were most of Coburn's margin of victory.

Nothing really new there for the effect of a spoiler candidate, but what is new or odd or something is how many votes this is and who she is. I had actually forgotten she was running until I saw my sample ballot. This woman is a bit off herself. She's convinced the federal government had her kidnapped and implanted mind-control devices in her brain -- a real tin-foil hatter. She's sued the federal government over this, in fact ... may even have a current active lawsuit, the latest to get thrown out of court in a long line of them I'm sure. How did this person get that many votes?

The only answer that makes any sense to me is disgruntled liberals shooting themselves in the foot and voting for her as a protest against Carson's campaign. I can see that happening, but it is still confusing.

4. I'm sorry!
As someone who is looking into fraud in my own corner of the country, I know this can be very frustrating! Keep looking and questioning though- have you found anything that Madsen might be able to use? I emailed him about my stuff and he emailed right back thanking me for telling him. I think he is trying to expand his investigation WMadsen777@aol.com

5. Apparently, what was thought to be fraud turned out to be a mistake
I've tried to copy and past du threads on this, but can't figure it out. They are on the first page of this forum.

I just want to know HOW the newspaper could make such a huge mistake without retracting it later?

Apparently, the results printed in the Tulsa World were actually results from an election from two years ago about cockfighting (another lovely reason Oklahoma makes the national news).
