1. never happen
The change would require a constitutional amendment, and the unpopulated rural states aren't going to give up the unbalancing power the EC gives them.

6. Yep.
No way you get us tax $$ benefiting rural red states (Wyoming) to give up a weighted advantage. I am all for it, however.

2. Understand this...
If there were no electoral vote system, Bush wouldn't even have been elected a first-term -- meaning he wouldn't be on the ticket today -- meaning he would never have been able to use 9/11 as a campaign issue.

SICK SICK SICK SICK!

4. Without the EC...
Gore would have won in 2000
Gore would have read his PDB's and possibly prevented 9/11
No terra terra terra

5. Rove turned out the evangelical Christian vote.
People forgot about Iraq it appears, and voted against gay marriage and abortion. Inserting these wedge issues into the mill may have paid off. We are becoming a theocracy.

7. Guarantee you if Kerry wins EV vote ...
The EC will be gone within a decade or at least drastically revised so as not to contradict the popular vote. All those small states that love the EC will dump it in a heartbeat if their guy loses.
Remember, it's all right if the Dem loses the popular vote, but not the Repug. It's the Amurikan way.
