Was off for tofurkey day, but I realized something about the email reply sent to many of us from Warren Mitofsky: He said that there were no 'early polls' and that it was just data leaked too early to the bloggers. THIS IS NOT TRUE! Else, how did the news stations see the early polls and start calling it for Kerry — don't they use the 'early polls' in their calculations; I'm pretty sure CNN said as much right before the returns started coming in, when describing how they make the calls. ALSO, there's the report to Bush that it looked like he was losing in a landslide — are we to believe that the Associated Press and Bush's team are out gathering their information from the bloggosphere? I don't think so. The polls were not "leaked" and the early polls have probably always been widely used. The final numbers were changed to match the result more closely, whether by E/M or the AP, and that's all there is to it.
