5 of Diebold's developers are convicted felons
From http://www.chuckherrin.com/HackthevoteFAQ.htm:

"No less than 5 of Diebold's developers are convicted felons, including Senior Vice President Jeff Dean, and topping the list are his twenty-three counts of felony Theft in the First Degree.

{..}

he was convicted of 23 felony counts of theft from by - get this - planting back doors in his software and using a "high degree of sophistication" to evade detection. Do you trust computer systems designed by this man?"

3. Ain't it great that even if ex-felons can't vote in most states
they can still grow up to be Vice President of a voting maching company!

4. Technically true, but...
I wanted to use this in some of my e-mails to media, but officially, Diebold claims that those developers actually worked for the company they bought, and they can't help what those guys did before they were Diebold. BS, but be careful about Dan Rathering yourself.

5. So there is proof
So there is verifyable proof of this....where can I find it.

(it is not that I don't want to believe this, just that I think it is big enough news that it deserves a fact check before blabbing it all around the world!)

WOW! And we think the Ukrane has problems!

13. Why be careful?

Let them get on the witness stand and make the claim that felons were anywhere near the DIEBOLD company.

It is not up to us to prove it. It's on them!

7. Some links for more Documentation to avoid "Dan Rathering"......
http://www.ejfi.org/Voting/Voting-18.htm

http://www.blackboxvoting.org/bbv_chapter-8.pdf

--"Global Election Systems was formally purchased by Diebold Inc.
effective January 31, 2002, and at this time Jeffrey Dean became a
paid consultant to Diebold Election Systems and John Elder took
over Diebold’s national printing division."

Jeff Dean is repeatedly mentioned in the famous Diebold memos available online, but is officially no longer a consultant for the company.

John Elder and Jeffrey Dean both served in prison together, and Elder (cocaine trafficking was his offense) still runs Diebold's printing division.

Thanks to everyone!

9. Excerpt from above post
"According to the findings of fact in case no. 89-1-04034-1 (Washington State):

“Defendant’s thefts occurred over a 2 1/2 year period of time, there were multiple incidents, more than the standard range can account for, the actual monetary loss was substantially greater than typical for the offense, the crimes and their cover-up involved a high degree of sophistication and planning in the use and alteration of records in the computerized accounting system that defendant maintained for the victim, and the defendant used his position of trust and fiduciary responsibility as a computer systems and accounting consultant for the victim to facilitate the commission of the offenses."

12. The other 3... Cooper, Lee, and Graye.
Norton Cooper, who
had been jailed for defrauding the Canadian government in 1974

Charles Hong Lee, In 1989 Lee was ordered to pay
$555,380 in restitution when Lee was sued, together with Norton
Cooper, by investors in a Macrotrends venture called Image West
Entertainment. Cooper settled, but Lee failed to answer the complaint
and also failed to list the lawsuit on his personal disclosure form
with immigration officials.

Michael K. Graye spent four years in prison on the charges related to Vinex Wines and was returned to Canada in May 2000; in April 2003 he admitted that he had misappropriated $18 million and committed tax fraud, and he was sent back to jail

These 3 were not developers, but founders and managers of Diebold and Global Election Systems. My original post was incorrect (5 developers - relying on a Wired article and others quoting the "5"), and I changed it to reflect that a couple of days ago. I apologize for the inaccuracy - In my efforts to get the info out, I relied on others. Now that Mr. Rather is retiring, maybe I should apply? :-)

These 3 felons helped to hire and manage the other 2 felons, of which Jeff Dean is by FAR the most worrisome.

Thanks for the questions - credibility is critical to people believing this.

17. Thanks

I, too had seen several references to "5" without documentation so when it was posted again, I hoped to nail down the details.

Not to nit pick, but to nit pick........sorry....but....

Wouldn't referring to Lee as a "criminal" be technically incorrect? It appears he was sued civilly, not criminally. I don't know much about Canadian law, but the paragraph on him sounds like a civil action.

Also, but didn't this pre-date Diebold and/or Global and was a part of one of the original companies? IMark or something? And the other brother was a part of it too, right?

Were these fellows kept on by Diebold? I know Dean was, and the other guy....the 2 in your original post. But what about these 3? Do you know?

14. I thought that they were so pure and clean!

I don't care if one of them has a cousin that was a felon ten years ago, this needs to be put on the table.

When they can keep thousands of minorities from voting, because they had a felony, served their time and STILL are held to be meaningless as citizens...put leg irons on these crooks immediately.

Where there is smoke there is fire!

It's getting hot at Diebold!:evilfrown:

I posted it at BBV but not sure if anyone was interested. I think they names all five plus some additional info. http://countingcoup2004.blogspot.com/ you have to sort through a lot of stuff to find it since I think its archived now. Also I recommend the CountingCoup site.

16. Txs,this is more than compelling

to me.

All of America is at the shopping malls believing that the DIEBOLD company has been properly researched and declared squeaky clean.

And now I am hearing that felons were within a finger's length of those voting machines.

Am I the only one who is outraged!

20. Similar damning information about E S & S and Sequoia
in two articles at http://www.madcowprod.com/

I think the issue of WHO the people are running these compainies, and the many ways in which they are interconnected with each other, may be the most significant and the most likely to get some mainstream attention.
