Our Nation, Strongly needs to Support Democracy in Iran!
Seriously, they had a democracy and we messed it up for short term gain. Says a lot about our belief in democracy.

We need to fund and diplomatically pull out all stops to help democracy in Iran. Especially since the person we would be supporting has been such an enemy of the United States. This would show actual faith in the eventual outcome of democracy. If we do not believe in the long term outcome of democracy, even others democracy, then in the long term our false faith will always show.

1. Because things work out so well when we interfere in the affairs of that country.

or any country. :sarcasm:

It would enflame the anti-American crowd over there...which is just what the Theocratic bastards want.

Let me put it in simple terms: YOU CANNOT FORCE DEMOCRACY DOWN THE THROAT OF ANOTHER COUNTRY unless at one point in time Democracy exited and flourished.

The Change has to come from within. It is coming. If not this time then the next.

Until then verbal hopes for peace are all we can and should do.

2. We are.
By staying the hell out of the way and not interfering, which would INSTANTLY undermine the protesters positions.

You think the regime is cracking down now? Let them successfully convince the general public that the protests have American backing then watch what they'll be able to justify. It would be a bloodbath.

4. I disagree with you. NO COUNTRY appreciates intrfierence from
others in running their own affairs. This is a situation that needs to be handled by the Iranian people!

I'm also not so convinced that democracy is all it's cracked up to be. IMO the people of each chountry should choose the kind of gov't they want! If it's a theocracy and that's what the residents want, that's fine with me. I wouldn't want to live there, and wouldn't.

5. Democracy won't take hold while a religion is still controlling government there.

8. I do not think we should "intervene". Best thing is get the news out there
from what I've heard, seen - I think the Iranian people are asking that we not
let the story be covered up.

I haven't heard any say "intervene".

Not from Iran, anyway.

<Cynicism/> We also must remember that this could all be a situation set up by our own country to create unrest and disturbance in Iran to destabilize the region.
