Stupid Question! Who gets to pick the hand recounters?
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 03:10 AM by 2rth2pwr
Do we end up with people whose only job is to fly around and do recounts? Do we pick from local population randomly, like jury selection? Do the entrenched clubby political parties choose? Who makes sure the subtotals, when transfered , by hand, to the tally sheets are transfered correctly? And do those numbers ever get transfered to a computer? How do you stop infiltrators? What if the counters are the same people who hacked the voting machines? What do you do when you can't trust the recount?

1. N.H. laws will determine this!
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 03:23 AM by samdogmom
When I was honored to participate in a local recount--my role was due to the fact that we were the petitioning party, we put up the money to pay for the recount, and our side got one representative, per law. So....maybe Dennis K. will get a rep. in every recount in N.H.? Who knows?

4. Law determines how many people participate.
In my particular "local" situation--the number of people recounting was three--one from the group being challenged, one from the opposition and one from the support group. We were very balanced and fair when it came to contesting questionable marks on a ballot.

7. Not at all!
Again, N.H. state law will determine who gets to be there. But, the only "campaigns" who may have a voice are those of Dennis Kuninch and the republican who is also questioning the results. (They may be "paying" for this recount--that's why they get representation.)

6. In my state, the County Clerks are responsible for securing the ballots.
They receive all of the ballots from the local jurisdictions on election night and verify that they're properly sealed (it's very obvious if the proper seals have been tampered with during a recount--(this is something that is checked!).

So what exactly is your point with all of these questions? Do you think a recount is LESS secure than an election????? HMMMMM!

Not sure what to say except: Watch and Learn!
