More Great News From Bev Harris!!!
This is amazing and very hopeful! Bev Harris http://www.blackboxvoting.org and Ralph Nader had a press conference in DC today. They have teamed up with http://www.ballotintegrity.org/ and have set up a 527 special fund http://helpamericarecount.org/ to buy recounts. They worked with Bev Harris's lawyer who is an election specialist attorney. They have found a little used law that allows a recount if it's requested by five citizens who voted in that state and did not vote for the candidate who won. The state wants a down payment of ten dollars a precinct, so they need money fast!

Send to the fund http://helpamericarecount.org/ All the funds are for recounts and will be prioritized by the most suspicious counties first. It will be about $200,000 to recount Ohio, which is the first target because it has very provable anomolies that show massive fraud- Bev says, "Very strange and impossible math"; then Florida.

If you go to http://helpamericarecount.org/ or www.blackboxvoting.org and can't get there, it's because their website keeps getting shut down and they keep having to put it back up. They are going to have to switch to a specialist host; a company who specializes in protecting websites that are under attack constantly. So if you can't get there, keep trying.

Also, there is a woman who has, on her own, filed for a recount in Nevada, using the same law.

And, Ralph Nader is going to pay for a recount in New Hampshire to audit the Diebold machines there.

27. this is confusing
The Green party has collected money for the recount. So who is really going to do it. I thought the Greens because they were a candidate and could file. They have about$98,000 out of 150,000 they say they will need, 110,000 fees and 40,000 expenses.

4. Disinterested at First
All you posted was really old news, and I was wondering, yeah, we know. Then I clicked on the BBV link and found that there was in fact some breaking news! Thanks for the update.

Don't know why you only snipped the old news though. I found this bit of new news interesting:

"BREAKING -- SATURDAY NOV 13 2004: Black Box Voting is implementing fraud diagnostics on the state of New Mexico. Information we recently received is indicative of widespread vote manipulation. We are not going to publicize the specifics here. "

13. Bev said on the Randi Rhodes Show that BBV.ORG has been
hacked at least 5 times A DAY since last week... the thieves are big-time trying to shut down the site.

I'm rather suprised they were able to upload an update and get it to keep! Yippee!

9. Sent another $50 off
That makes $250 I can't really afford that I've sent to Bev, Nader and Help America Count. I'm fine with Bev Harris but I'm kinda tired of Ralph's bullheadedness and getting endless emails from 527s.

10. So I don't understand
I just realized there's something I don't understand.

What's a recount supposed to *do* exactly?

What reason is there to think that the recount is going to expose problems in any way the "first" count doesn't?

Do you see what I'm asking here?

12. The first count is electronic. Recounts avoid the electronics.
In NH, for instance, we're looking at the paper ballots that are then fed into the electronic scanners. We can count those ballots and determine if the total matches the electronic total.

Also, many places (Ohio leaps to mind) have a great deal of 'spoiled' ballots. That just means they are unable to be read by machines. A hand count, though, is able to determine the vote. A recount is the only way those ballots will be counted, period.

There are other ways recounts help, but I think you get the picture with these examples. Recounts matter.

17. Got it
I see now.

Knowing this, I kind of wish there were more opposition in NH. The fact that (as far as I know) there has been very little opposition to a recount in NH makes me think we're not going to find anything there.

Yet, I understand NH actually had some of the biggest discrepancies between expected tallies and actual tallies. Kerry won, but it wasn't supposed to be so close by any means. (Isn't that right?)

This would suggest that if we're going to look anywhere for bad stuff, we should look in NH. Yet there was no resistance in NH, which makes it seem like we're not going to find anything, which makes it seem like there's no reason really to look into NH, which makes it seem like there's no reason really to look anywhere.

See what I mean here?

20. I see what you're saying, but there WAS resistance
Nader's first request for a recount was denied because he hadn't gotten the fee to the authorities in time. The request, itself, was submitted a mere ONE MINUTE from the deadline. It turns out, though, that it wasn't the NH SoS who was playing hardball with Nader, it was the assistant SoS who was 'officially' acting in his boss' name. He didn't bother to inform his superior of the situation, at all. Well, his deception was uncovered and the real Sos not only granted the recount request, but has been more than happy to cooperate.

I have to think that the asst. SoS' attempt to derail the recount request was motivated by his desire to please someone in DC. That, plus the unlikelihood that the democrats would ask for a recount in a state that they had won (risking a firestorm of bad publicity if they had made such a request), was probably thought to be enough to end any inquiries into the actual vote totals in NH.

26. I was thinking
of Susan Sarandon. She talked about the voting irregularities on Bill Maher recently. Don't know how to contact her of course... maybe she's already given anyway ;). Or Micheal Moore. Perhaps he would post a blurb about donations and a link to www.helpamericarecount.org on his website. As for George Sorors, it looks like he has chosen acceptance judging by the "post-election comment" he posted last week.
