DUers for ELECTION REFORM..The Chair of the C.H.A.,accepting comments on Holts bill
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 11:38 AM by FogerRox
It is my understanding that the future of Holts new HR 811 is out of his hands, Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald who chairs the Committee on House Administration (CHA) looks like she is in control of any future rewrites of HR 811. And I have been told she is not anti-DRE.

Here is her contact page

Heres my review of HR 811.

2. Good work, Foger Rox
I'm still thinking it over but it looks like you've covered about all the bases.

One thing: Leon county, not Volusia is where the Hursti hack first ocurred. A minor point.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had our own lobbyist in DC these days? Someone to chase this bill down and talk to the committe chair and members?

Again, good work and thanks.

3. This is an opportunity for DU to restore some of its former glory!
Think of this as Jan., 2005 all over again, leading up to Jan. 6! Anybody here remember those days?

The latest version of the Holt bill has more loopholes than a piece of Swiss Cheese. I wouldn't expect much from Millinder-McDonald but tell her Holt doesn't go far enough to ensure election integrity! At least that way she won't introduce a worse bill of her own and might take an interest in fixing Holt's bill. We used to be able to get hundreds or thousands of DUers to call and write their reps, or at least it seemed that way. We need to do it again, esp. now that the Dems are running the asylum!

7. approach should be focused
rather than everyone emailing their reps, better to
prepare recommendations, garner endorsements for those recommendations
and take these to the persons who have the bill, i.e Millender McDonald and in
the Senate - Diane Feinstein.

Otherwise we are just spinning our wheels.

Where's Paul Revere ?

LOL.

YOu mean HR 811? I had some time off, and it just happened to be week that Holts HR 811 was introduced. Next week I probably start as a campaign manager for 5 muni races (elections in May) in Hoboken NJ. Poof, my spare time will vanish.
