DCCC rep assures me that election reform is coming
I just got a call from the DCCC asking for contributions. I gave my usual line, that I would a lot rather use my money to for causes that I thought would effect change in the vote counting. The contact I was talking to said that she was also concerned about this and said she felt that the Dems would use this window of opportunity to pass bills to make changes. I said, You better use this opportunity because the Dems were lucky to win. The landslide was so large that the 7% tilt of the voting machines wasn't enough to flip the elections, but next time we might not be so lucky.

Later she let me talk to a guy who assured me that the Dems, and he claimes to know this for sure, would soon be proposing important legistlation to try to remedy this problem. I had already mentioned HR550, Holt's bill, and I think that's what he was talking about. I told him about the problems with Diebold and especially the DEMS part of the org what with Jeffrey Dean helping to write the programs used for the fraudulent GA election of 02, etc. I noted that it's not just the paper print-out that's important, but it's AUDITS, that if you don't have audits the paper is meaningless, etc.

Anyway, a good conversation and I agreed that rather than giving $10, I would give $50, but on the condition that this sort of legislation would be coming down the pike very soon. If something like that happened, I might give more. I'm not sure what's up with the DCCC, Pelosi's org I think, but if these two reps were so up on it, I can't help but think that Pelosi is onto this too and enough Dems that at least something will get done. I can pray anyway.

1. Important stuff
You should cross-post this to GDP, IMHO.
:patriot:

2. For $50, a lot of people will tell you what you want to hear.
So this DCCC guy implies he's in the know about 550 v.2? I wonder if he really understands the issues or if he's just parroting the "Gold Standard" blather. Plenty of activists seem less than informed.

You, I believe, are correct about the essentiality (new word :D ) of a robust audit. We'll see what Holt has in mind.

LandShark has been a pain in the ass over 550. But he ain't totally wrong, either.

3. Have you been able to track down
any specifics on *from where* it is coming, yet?

I hear too much gossip about Congress, too many promise from people wanting money.

What really terrifies me is that the Machine Election Industry will try to slide something in, someplace we are not looking, whenever they can.

After all, wouldn't you, if you were them?
