8. The way to get there is MASSIVE Absentee Ballot voting this fall--

a big citizen revolt against the MACHINES! If enough people do it--if everyone who despises the Bush Junta (60% to 70%) votes by AB--the reign of these diabolical machines is OVER!

Also see Bradblog post today, on Emergency Paper Ballot Bill, he wants to get quickly through Congress. Frankly, I think they'd rather burn us all at the stake as see us restore transparent elections, but if Bradblog wants to try to move the Diebold Congress, I can only bow to his AMAZING, HEART-RENDING, PASSIONATE, UNRELENTING, ENCYCLOPEDICALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE ACTIVISM on this matter, and support him. He's thinking of the train wreck in Maryland, and thousands upon thousands of people disenfranchised by machines breaking down. Simple bill: Election officials MUST provide paper ballots.

at the polls, your state won't have paper ballots as an alternative to the voting machines. Utah will have op scan paper ballots available, and since poll voting is more transparent than absentee voting, we'll be asking voters here to go to the polls and demand a paper ballot.

pouring billions of dollars into the pockets of Bushite electronic voting corporations, fine. Vote on their optiscans--which are ALSO run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY software, owned and controlled by major Bush donors, campaign chairs and rightwing fanatics!

You're not getting the point. BOYCOTT THE MACHINES! ALL OF THEM! This is the only way we can get rid of them!

Sure, they may scan AB votes right into the rigged electronics, but WE DON'T HAVE TO COOPERATE! And if we DON'T cooperate, in large numbers, the reign of these damned machines will be OVER.

Optiscans are NOT an option. They dump your ballot into a box, and it is never seen again; your "vote" becomes a bunch of electrons in a highly riggable system of vote "tabulation" run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code. Some states have NO audit at all. The rest have extremely inadequate audits for catching fraud in this high speed, secret, electronic environment. Recounts are expensive, difficult and extremely rare. So you "paper ballot" in the optiscan system is worth almost nothing--maybe a slight deterrent effect.

ALL electronic voting must GO! All! The votes must be on paper, hand counted, and the results posted locally BEFORE any electronics are involved. Period. This is the ONLY secure system.

That's the point!

I'm not saying AB votes are "safe." They clearly are not. But massive AB voting is a way to force reform. That's all I claim for it. It will NOT give us accurate vote counts this fall. That is impossible.

There ARE ways to make your AB vote safer. Photocopy it (keep a copy). Fill out ballot and envelope very carefully, to avoid disqualification. Hand-deliver it to registrar or at polling place; or send it registered mail/return receipt requested (or Fed Ex), to be sure it got there. Add ACTIVISM: Write a separate letter to registrar/sec of state demanding TRANSPARENT vote counting. Monitor AB vote counting on election day. Demand secure handling/counting of AB votes. Document what they do.

9. FYI next time you go to your ATM

Went to my ATM at Bank of America noticed the equiptment was new guess what it was DIEBOLD went in, ask them why? they said they were upgrading .......told them that Diebold could not keep track of the VOTES how could they manage my money?? CLOSED MY ACCOUNT

SO THE NEXT TIME YOU DO THE ATM CHECK IT OUT MAYBE YOU CAN DO THE SAME ...CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT AND IF ENOUGH PEOPLE GET THIS MESSAGE MAYBE SOME ONE WILL LISTEN...
