I watched the Princeton Video- diebold TS hack? what was in my pocket?
Go here:

http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/videos.html

SO I am watching the video... about 1/3 thru, I see the voter card, that the voter must insert to enable the process, and what do I see?

This is a shot of my laptop, with the same card I had in my Pocket, laid out on the keypad. Now you say, what was I doing with a DIEBOLD card in my pocket? I had just come from the Laundrymat, they use a system where you get this card, insert it in a machine, put money in the machine and then the card is taken out and inserted in the washingmachine. Its like a debit card to pay for your washing and drying.

Isnt that cute?

But seriously, are the cards really exactly the same, because you know there are plenty of Democratic, Green, etc, folks who would be able to do this too, no?

Does Diebold think all liberals and such are Boy Scouts?

12. Shame on you Foger, you should not vote 20 times..nor 40 ..nor 400
nor 4,000.. not that that it makes any difference to that little card. One can program it for any number of combinations..
But No One would think to do that...:eyes: Nope that's never happened...:sarcasm:

"accidentally" left behind? Is it possible that someone reprogrammed the little suckers while they sat unattended?

If so, perhaps someone who knows more than I do about this might want to post a comment at the end of that Washington Post story.

17. Well, in the article it is said that the workers didn't know how to fix it
Wouldn't they then just try another card in order to fix it? I had the impression that each card would contain all ballots.

Or are the cards they speak of just used to bring the computers online?

27. firefox rules
with firefox, you have one window open, with all the sites you want to view, open in separate tabs. you click on which tab you want to view the site you wanna see. also, instead of just 'bookmarks', you can have all of your sites saved at the top of the window and you just click on the site you want to go to, and it opens :D it really beats having 20 IE windows open at once :P

(and it's FREE)

46. Small problem
Edited on Fri Sep-15-06 01:25 AM by kster
if the machine is set up to record votes, the way the hacker wants, you could slide that card in 4000 times and the hackers vote total would come up as if you voted only once.

My question is, is their a quick way to short these machines out, to render them useless or set up the card so that it puts the machine out of commission for the rest of the day, DU techies?

I think that would give us more bang for the buck.

I mean if they want a tech war, lets give them one.

47. You've just made Agent Mike very happy.
But according to the princeton example, you have to get into the machine if you really want to cause a ruckus.

And that was very, very easy and quickly done so long as no one can see you.

I dunno. I'm lucky I can remember how to start up my PC each day.
