Recounting Missouri !
According to the SoS office, there is be a recount (now being held) to determine the winner of the GOP auditor's race. It is to be completed by 9/11 (God, is that ever ominous!).

The SoS office could not say whether the Diebold "cash register tapes" would be cut up. It is being done at the local level. Privately, however. This because the last state wide (1994) recount was done that way. Sounds lame to me.

So, if 92% do not want secret ballot counting, as shown by Paul Lehto's Zogby poll, then I would hope that at least 92% who read this will pick up the phone and bitch like crazy to the local head of elections. If you don't know who to call, call the county court house.

Get your lungs ready, you'll bloody well need them in Missouri this November.

Grab that phone now and SHOW ME!

1. Kinda funny the GOP wants a recount...
As an election poll worker I could not get the paper on the touch-screen to stop jamming. Luckily, the opti-scan worked just fine (I think, never got to read the memory card), and we just used that one.

2. Think the GOP "glitched" themselves??
It really is funny when you think about it. Most all of the concern is expressed (rightfully, IMHO) about GOP-leaning Voting machine manufacturers using electronic shenanigans to bamboozle Democrats in the general elections. Then a recount (and subsequent test of the state's ability to even conduct a recount) comes up because of a less than 1% margin between two GOP candidates!

If the GOP has control of the machines, then someone needs to upgrade their human personnel! All computer mistakes wind up being called "glitches", but what does one call a human mistake that lets a huge, bright spotlight shine on a Diebold DRE recount? Catastrophe is the word that comes to my mind!
