Looking for good resources about what voting systems are used where
In 2004 we depended on "The Verifier," VerifiedVoting.org's great database of e-voting systems that showed which was used where, along with problems specific to each system. VV is working on updating their site, but currently doesn't have the volunteers or the funds to do all the data entry.

I'm collecting info on which systems are used where and could really use some help with resources. I do have a list of states that will be using e-voting without VVPAT, but I'd like more specifics.

If you have this information, even if it's only for one state or only for one vendor, will you please post a link to it (or the data itself) here? If I get a reasonable amount, I'll start a topic about this in the research forum.

Thanks much!

5. well it was the last poll.
That was the last poll, was it not, you want a preemptive list before a poll
on what 'will' be deployed? If you find this link, please post it, i would
like to import the data in to a spreadsheet and look at the deltas since 04.

2. Why don't you work *with* VV? I did

3. I'm trying to find out if any other "wheels" have already been invented,
since VV's info isn't up-to-date enough to meet my needs at this time. I sure hope it will be and that people will step forward to help. It can't be me, though, because I'm embroiled in too many other projects right now.

6. Pennsylvania: voting machines by county
http://www.dos.state.pa.us/voting/cwp/view.asp?a=1218&q=446365

I know there is at least one lawsuit in process that could potentially change this, but I believe the site is current with what has been officially approved.

10. Thank you. It looks like the color key may be a bit oversimplified
When you click on a county, sometimes it lists more than one system, but only one is shown on the map for each county.

Thanks much!

7. I'm unaware of a central location which is up to date...
It will take some effort, but the only way to compile the data is to visit each state board of elections website. Some of those might not be up to date, too.

ALSO confusing the matter is that many jurisdictions have several types of voting systems. In my county, only touch screen is available for early voting, with the cut-off for absentee ballots ending the day early voting begins. Both touch screen and opti-scan are available on election day, for now -- we anticipate that changing next year to 100 percent touch screen...unless by some miracle they can be decertified.

This would be valuable info, emlev.

Edit for hamfisted spelling.

The tornado blew TOTO and I close enough to get the information on Missouri! The link is below:

Hi Emily,

I have a contact in the Missouri SoS office who is beginning to swing to the HCPB way of thinking.

SoS Carnahan (apparently) expects this person to keep her advised on all machines, all problems, etc. A tall order, since she originally thought NASED, EAC, Fedral Money, etc., would make this whole Cheat-o-Matic change a breeze!

If any of the models I sent to your thread, requesting each state's authorized equipment, are subject to particular problems, please advise and I'll will get the word to his ear.

Phil

PS. Again, the URL is: http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/qualsystems.asp

11. Resources for you
Sorry I somehow missed the responses on this thread for several days. And thank you for posting the link.

If you go to www.verifiedvoting.org you can get detailed info on each system. This info may not be up-to-date, but it will at least give you some idea of the sorts of problems each system has had. Also try www.votersunite.org. There you can go to "failures listed by vendor" and "failures listed by state" to research the info you need. Also check out Mythbreakers. Again I'm not sure how up-to-date it is, but it's been a great resource to give elections officials.

Hope all this helps.
