This past weekend, C-SPAN's Book TV aired a discussion about Joel Bleifuss and Stephen Freeman's new book, "Was The 2004 Presidential Election Stolen? Exit Polls, Election Fraud, and the Official Count."



Book Description: In "Was the 2004 Presidential Election Stolen?" Steven Freeman and Joel Bleifuss analyze the discrepancy between the Election Day exit polls and the official vote count. The co-authors cite vote suppression and fraud as reasons for the eight million vote difference between exit poll data and the final outcome.




Author Bio: Steve Freeman is a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Organizational Dynamics. Joel Bleifuss is the editor of "In These Times" and has had numerous articles cited as Top Censored Stories of the Year by Project Censored.

4. This is absolutely the best short summary of the issue I've seen. K&R!

Bleifuss and Freeman are exactly on target. Democracy is a very difficult form of government to maintain. It requires a delicate balance from all sides, but most of all it demands the desire of all parties to maintain that democracy. Democracy can't exist if one of the political parties in power does not want it. I think that's where we've come to now. Most members of the Republican Party, the real Republicans, want to preserve the democracy, but the leaders in that party, particularly those in the national leadership positions, are doing everything they can to undermine and destroy that democracy. They seem to have succeeded, at least so far.
