Voting Machines Sitting in FLORIDA Living Rooms
Voting Machines Sitting in FL Living Rooms
by Alf Ranken
Fri Aug 18, 2006 at 07:16:33 PM PDT

I just returned from Poll Watcher training in Duval County Florida. Early Voting for the Primary begins Monday. I caught the most interesting tidbit while hanging around the Democratic HQ. Apparently, since Early Voting starts "early in the morning" Monday, the (Republican) Supervisor of Elections decided it was best to send the voting machines home for the weekend with the poll workers. Yeah, I am not f'ing making that up! And yes, I did fall out of my chair, lose my hearing and vision and swear like a drunk sailor when I heard this. It's so ridiculous that only a Republican could come up with this plan.

3. That's not really fair
Ohio had tons of shenagins in the 2004 election. Do you think only Republicans live in Florida? Now, if you want to say "Only a Republican..." go ahead. But your post implies that everyone living in Florida is stupid.

6. I'm sorry! I didn't mean to corner the market on voting fraud. And
not everyone in Florida is dumb. Most, however, I am extremely weary of.

10. please use Election Fraud!
The term Voting Fraud implies it's the VOTERS, not the system that's the problem...

14. It's OK
I knew what you meant, anyway. I was just having a "Piss and Vinegar" sort of morning. I live here and I'm pretty wary (and weary) of most of my neighbors here, too.

7. It's not only unfair, it's naive.

If anyone thinks Ohio, California and Florida corner the market on election irregularities than they're in a position to hand the other 47 states to the GOP. It's happening EVERYWHERE folks!

8. It should have been followed by the sarcasm... I apologize.
I know its happening everywhere. Its just so brazenly obvious in certain places that its not even funny.

12. On the other hand, this could be signs of a positive thing.
The fact that these issues are being brought to light may mean Floridians are just more vigilant. ;)

No problem. Those of us from Florida and Texas get a little tetchy. We do seem to get more than our fair share of whack jobs and crooks. Low barometric pressure?

Edit: removed to protect myself and everyone else, and to put the focus on the much, much more reasonable suggestion presented below. Thank you for your sanity, my friend.

11. OR:
Surround their homes overnight with candlelight vigils. Photo/video EVERYTHING.
PEACEFULLY Block their drives in the am to the polling places. No machines--no electronic votes.
