A couple months back I started POD. It is a group that provides specific actions that every member can do to fight election fraud, vote suppression, and deliberate disenfranchisement of minority/elderly/poor voters.

The group is up to almost five hundred members. There are several democratic congressional canidates in the group (all dems, of course). Plus, a fantastic community of activists and progressive leaders.

Absentee Ballot protest?

This as an indigenous protest--started by ordinary citizens who don't trust the machines--but it could get very big with just a little help. The idea is this: Although the election reform movement is off and running--with many groups formed, web sites, books, articles and lawsuits, and activism such as yours--there is nothing on the horizon to prevent Stolen Election III this fall, by means of Bushite corporate controlled electronic voting, run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls. The corruption of our election system--and rendering it non-transparent--just got entrenched too fast (as the result of nearly $4 billion in boondoggle funding appropriated by the Anthrax Congress, engineered by the biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney--both now resigned in disgrace over bribery scandals).

So-o-o-o-o, what do we do? Answer: Massive Absentee Ballot voting. FLOOD election officials with MOUNTAINS of paper ballots to deal with, create panic and crisis in the election theft industry, and FORCE reform NOW. AB votes are NOT "safe"--and will NOT secure accurate vote counts this time around--but if enough people vote AB (and many are--it's up to 50% in Los Angeles)--it will amount to a citizen revolt, a massive "vote of no confidence" in things as they are, and force election officials to the table. What will they do, if nobody will vote on their new, expensive, and extremely insecure and insider hackable election theft machines?

Massive AB voting will also increase scrutiny of how AB votes and all paper ballots are counted. It will raise consciousness. It will put election officials on notice that we will not accept anything less than full transparent vote counting.

These electronic voting systems were a foolish, foolish purchases of the unwary--and the not so innocent purchases of the lavishly lobbied. And until we get rid of this secretly programmed voting equipment, we DO NOT HAVE democratic elections. We have results we cannot trust--and some of it has been highly suspicious, indeed, including voluminous evidence that the 2004 presidential election put the wrong man in the White House.

Absent Ballot voting is a way to protest this situation. It provides an incentive to non-voters who say "it's all rigged, why vote?" This is a protest aimed at un-rigging the system! No excuse not to vote! It will help turnout. It's easy. Everybody can do it. And many, many people want to register their discontent with our election system and who is it has kept in power.

Additional measures: Photocopy your ballot, and send it registered mail/return receipt requested, or Fed EX, or deliver it in person. You may also want to send a separate letter to the Registrar demanding transparent vote counting.

Most states have some form of AB voting--some make it easier than others. Do what's possible! And be sure to dot all i's and cross all t's, so the ballot is not disqualified.
