8. That's been the plan for a while. Why do you think they are so blantant
about making it hard for people to register? Why be so public about not making machines verifyable? Why make politics so hard to participate in all around? Emotional arousal for their side.. and apathy for their opponents.

Only 65% of Americans voted in the last election anyways. It isn't as if they have to do anything but keep that as it is.. then.. as the Daily Show pointed out.. they just have to win 1/2 of. 65% to have a chance at slipping through along with all their other tricks. And everyone knowns that half of 65% is about 32.5%.

Motivate their side.. and exhaust or depress the Dem voters.

Didn't you know.. that is what Ann Coulter and her ilk are for.

9. I don't think t's a bulshit poll at all.
Sime people (hopefully Pubs) will be really pissed and decide not to use the electronic voting machines. I think Lou asked a valid question and he got a valid answer!

10. No way... To beat RNC programmers, challengers will need to win by more
than 10%... (by my best estimation). We need EVERY vote to force the RNC outside the range of defensible vote flipping to increase the odds of discovery. In 2004 this range was considered to be 4% (-4%, +4% = 8% vote movement). I expect no national exit or pre-election polls, relying only on local pre-election polls which usually carry higher margins of error. Thus, I predict the vote manipulation limit has been set to 5% for 2006. Therefore, EVERYONE NEEDS tO VOTE!

To beat Rove, first, think like Rove.

13. Dude. There is no margin of defensible vote flipping. It's +/- 100%
They can flip whatever they want. What we need to do is vote, but also make SURE our vote is counted. That means go on the streets if necessary or whatever it takes.

12. Why would I do that?
especially in Florida-last time I didn't vote in '98 they took my name off the rolls for 2000-hey I'll cast my vote for only democrats only to see it tabulated as republican votes anyway-do they think I'm stupid-like I don't know what's happening down here?I could go on and on and on about my feelings on this most crucial subject but why bother making myself crazy-we just live our lives and do what we can

16. The genius of Dobbs
The one and only but highly misleading claim to fame of DREs is that they "save votes", that is that they have lower residual vote rates (overvotes plus undervotes) than most other voting technologies. Thus, they put out studies and press releases claiming that DREs have "saved" a million votes in the last presidential election, for example....

Baloney, of course.

BUt, whether he meant to or not, Dobbs' response in the latest CNN poll on boycotting elections is genius. The 30% or so of respondents (to the horror of those in DU ELection forum) that plan on boycotting elections due ot electronic voting PROVES THAT DRE'S HAVE HIGH RESIDUAL VOTES TOO. You just can't count them because people are "undervoting" on every single race on the ballot because they refuse to vote D-R-E.

Our new rallying cry should be to "restore the vote" to ALL voters. FOrced voting on a technology with such high levels of boycott/nonparticipation is absurd.

DREs refuse to count the vote publicly
DREs also refuse to count those who refuse to use DREs in their ballyhooed "residual vote" rates.

I think I'll take the liberty of starting a new thread based on this.

18. CLEVER Argument.
Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 11:33 PM by JimDandy
The problem with the poll, though, was that, people like me chose "boycott," because it was the answer that was closest to what we really intend to do, and what we in fact did do in the primary--vote on a paper ballot instead of the DRE machines. That aside, your argument holds, if even one person follows through on the boycotting. In fact it holds period, simply because the poll exists.
