RFK "Democrats on this issue have been abysmal"
RFK says reaction to his article has been huge

RFK was interviewed by PR Week about his Rolling Stone article. Here's an excerpt. Cross-posted at dKos.

http://www.prweek.com/us/news/open/free/blogs/564483

PRWeek: Why do you think this wasn't covered heavily by major media directly after the election?
Kennedy: I think the mainstream media took up the Republican echo chamber, and just echoed the right-wing talking points.

PRWeek: Why didn't the Democrats themselves pursue this?
Kennedy: Well, there was a lot of complaining; there were a lot of lawsuits. But it got very little traction in the media. But you know, the Democrats on this issue have been abysmal as well.

PRWeek: Your story wasn't based on any secret information, correct?
Kennedy: No, that's the whole thing. This was not a secret conspiracy. This was done openly and shamelessly. Across Ohio, there were people who did everything they could to stop this.

PRWeek: Have you had any indication that the national media will take another look at this issue?
Kennedy: I had a good indication . The New York Times, as its lead editorial, did a piece on Kenneth Blackwell's current efforts to suppress registration drives in Ohio. And the Republicans are doing the same thing in Florida, and the Times talked about that, as well.

PRWeek: What reaction have you seen from the general public?
Kennedy: There's a huge reaction. Rolling Stone told me that it's gotten two and a half times as many e-mails as it's ever gotten for any other story in its history. So there's a huge appetite for this story.

Where are the S-elected Republicans or better yet the Democrats? Cat got their tongue? Just hide behind Schakowsky skirt and watch a LEADER work.

Schakowsky (D-IL): WAS 2004 ELECTION STOLEN? "ONLY ANSWER YES"

Now that wasn't hard was it?

4. Nudge?
WTH? Give him a nudge? He's been sleeping? He is asleep? His head in in the sand? What the heck, RFK on Rolling Stone, Salon, Faux TV, etc. and he still needs a nudge?

I'll bet you he's also one of those Fundamentalists who has faith in the republicans and trusts they wouldn't never, ever, never steal an election just because "they wouldn't do that."

Ahhh, Jesus did say suffer the little children, eh?

3. We also need to keep an eye on New Hampshire
In regard to registration and other suppression.

Just a hunch but I think it's logical. That was the only state Kerry won that Gore did not. The partisan index swung to Democrats but Rove has been quoted several times recently that 2004 was a blip, that New Hampshire is really a red state and will return to that tendency.

We're still at a significant registration disadvantage there and I hope we don't take the state for granted. I'd love to bet Rove is targeting New Hampshire and taking steps right now, legal and illegal, while we're focused elsewhere. The impact of New Hampshire is huge for 2008, since adding Virginia doesn't mean nearly as much if we lose New Hampshire. We'd have to replace New Hampshire with small states like Nevada or Colorado, hardly a given.

Luckily we have a Democratic governor in New Hampshire now. I've noticed the Republican-controlled state legislature has tried to pass several bills to make voting more difficult, like anyone with a vehicle registered out of state could not register to vote in New Hampshire. There's also one that says student IDs are not acceptable for voting purposes. Governor Lynch has been using the veto power but he can't prevent everything.
