HEADS UP: Rush Holt to possibly be on with Lou Dobbs tonight.
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 04:50 PM by Stevepol
Here's the email I got. Also, the Rush Holt bill continues to get more sponsors and even a few Repubs (19). Now more than ever we need to support this bill, even if it has some flaws. Hope this is not a dupe. It needs to be in the ERD Forum in any case.

Late last week, Rush Holt taped an interview with Lou Dobbs that we are told will air tonight on CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight at 6:00 p.m. EST. The topic of the conversation was voting, and more specifically, how to ensure the security and integrity of our elections. Though news segments like this can sometimes be canceled at the last minute, we wanted to let you know in case you'd like to watch it.

Over the last ten days, Mr. Dobbs has been discussing the threat to election integrity posed by foreign ownership of paperless electronic voting machines. As Rush said in the interview, paperless electronic voting machines are vulnerable to error or to manipulation by people with an interest in the outcome of an election, whether they be foreign or domestic. These machines can be hacked, programmed maliciously, and/or programmed incompetently, and, worst of all, the results can't be audited.

Passage of Rush's legislation, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act (H.R. 550), would correct this problem by requiring that voting machines produce a voter-verified paper record for each vote cast; mandating random audits in a certain percentage of election districts; and forbidding the use of internet connections or wireless devices. Tonight's interview with Lou Dobbs gave Rush another opportunity to make his case for the bill to a national audience.

I am pleased to report that, since you signed Rush's petition in support of H.R. 550, momentum for the legislation continues to grow.

The House Administration Committee has agreed to hold a hearing on the bill this year, and preparations for that hearing are underway.

Hundreds of people from all over the country came to Washington, D.C. in April to advocate for the bill, generating news coverage and energy.

The bill now has nearly 190 co-sponsors, including 19 Republicans.
I hope you will be watching tonight, and thank you for your continued support. If you would like to donate to Rush's campaign, every dollar is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Samantha Maltzman

Political Director

Rush Holt for Congress

Holt points out that you can't audit the machines.

Dobbs don't like that fact one bit. "fears are rising" about machine voting he says, Dobbs mentions the "proprietary" info that makes elections annacountable.

Like him or not him, Dobbs won't be letting this topic go. He's pissed. And not just about Sequoia, folks.

Kitty Pilgrim reports that New Mexico is going to paper ballots to assuage fears, and that was when Dobbs made his "fear is rising" comment.

3. Think about it...
Olberman and Stewart have their style, but Dobbs is the only msm newscaster that is calling the Bush gang to the mat. Agree with him or not, but, besides Olberman, who else in the msm is speaking out so boldly against the mis-administration. 0. Thanks.

5. The show will be rerun tonight.
I know it's at 1:00 am PT in Washington.

It was a short segment at about the halfway mark.
