Bill Maher just said re 2008 : "Diebold hasn't even printed
the fake ballots yet."

He's never said anything about this to my knowledge.

I think he got a press copy of Mark's book.

When it had come up back in '05, he really wasn't interested in discussing it, and did not buy into the whole "machine" problems or exit polls discrepancies.

5. Did any of these guys have
Mark Crispin Miller or anyone that would talk serious about the election theft machines , David Letterman, BILL Maher, John steward........

Maybe we need to boycott these shows right along with the the big three ring circus corporate media news shows  , sorry I had to laugh when I said news shows, because the only way they will permit the comedians to say something on air about the election theft machines is to get a good laugh out of it.

It just seems we get all happy to see it being brought up on air but it really doesn't make a difference to our cause, if it can only be brought up to get a good laugh.

6. Imho, Maher's comment tonight was a good thing.
Because you know how off limits the whole issue is.

No one was laughing AT the idea. The audience was laughing WITH it.

That's a gain for us, plainly.

And we need to get Mark on Maher's show and on the Daily Show and on KO.

That's the job.

7. are you sure maher wasn't being weirdly sarcastic and making
fun of people who only "think" the machines and diebold were the problem?

(i hope not, but....)

and mark was on the daily show--not doing a sit down with jon but in a piece ed helms did. it was about a small town that changed it's name to some satellite company or something (like dish texas--i don't remember exactly--but helms brought up oscar the grouch and miller said oscar eats the garbage, and then mark said something to the effect of "i can't believe i'm having this conversation..." (it was pretty funny--you had to see it, i'm telling it horribly)

agreed! he should definitely have a sit down with jon.

i don't get hbo so i haven't seen maher's show since politically incorrect went off network

9. Bill was on our side. One of the few skills I bring here
is the ability to read comedians. He was being serious-funny. Which leads me to believe that he's changed his mind about electronic voting.

I caught Mark in that skit about the town that changed its name to Dish. He was hilarious.

The job right now really is getting Mark booked on these three shows.

The longer everyone has to review these POS, the more voices will be raised against them.

We can shorten the learning curve by helping Mark get booked into these venues.

(bought 11 copies and sent 10 copies to ten senators)

and diebold has, at last, hit the county i live in. my kid is an election judge--she was "trained" to set up the machine (complete with "paper receipt" that the voter never sees--they weren't even told what to do if there was a paper jam or if the paper roll runs out!) and of course, the secret's in the software--no one is allowed to see it!

mind game, the comedians can crack jokes all they want about the election theft machines, but never, never ,never are they allowed to have a guest on that talks seriously about them election theft machines.

"Rumor is that President Bush's brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, may run for president. Rumor is? According to Florida voting machines, he's already won." --Jay Leno

This is true but yet the people don't know that thIS is indeed FACT
not a joke, but FACT that this can happen. Thats the difference.

35. Well...
I feel like we've got to start somewhere.

A lot of people who have voted on DREs, or those who were made to wait hours and hours to vote, or the tens of thousands whose absentee ballot never showed up, or those who had their polling place moved at the last minute, (etc, ad nauseam) don't think it's just a joke. And people who listen to the 'thugs say one thing, but do another are getting it. I think that more and more people are realizing that something is seriously wrong here. Humor is a great tool for getting your point across to people who might otherwise tune out. Serious speakers need to be heard, but I'm just glad to know that *anything* is being said on this topic.

37. Thats all small potatoes right now,
we have the Harri Husti Hack and so much more, no reason to beat around the * they need to get on it, with serious discussion, the networks make money when we watch these guys thats why they allow them to talk election theft machines so long as it is in joke form ONLY.

It feels good to me also when Dave, John and Maher say something about Election theft machines, but it is not enough by no means, it will never get us anywhere as long as they won't have a Mark or a Fritakis on for discussion about the election theft machines.

I am on your side, I luv the joke's always have, but I come to realize that joking about serious matters will NEVER produce the results that we are trying to achieve.

I think their jokes are in reality working against us.

I hope I am totally wrong about this........But thats the way I see it.

I see it as an excellent way to plant seeds of truth in the brains of those who aren't ready for a serious discussion of how these thugs have turned the US into a dictatorship in just 5 years.

about the election theft machines since the 2004 election, So what do the comedians have to their credit as far as exposing the election theft machines?

"Humor is an excellent teaching tool", when you are teaching kids that don't have a care in the world, But when you are teaching adults, facts on TV (which we have) are a much better tool Fritakis, Miller, Sancho so on ..............

45. “What do the comedians have to their credit as far as exposing ...
the election theft machines?”

Look at the jokes on this page so far. They have all indicated that these *comedians* believe that election fraud has occurred.

Where do you get that on the news, besides Olbermann? They’ve brought this concept into the public’s awareness through their teevee sets -- so couch potatoes everywhere can hear it. That IS a big deal, whether or not you choose to acknowledge the importance of that feat.

Humor is an excellent teaching tool, regardless of the audience’s age.

PLEASE HEAR THIS ALREADY!: NO ONE has said that jokes are enough.

has value.

After the White House was stolen for Junior, we put together a political set for Doug and keep updating it. It's just one more form of activism. Same with the column, same with any venue we can think of.

49. many a true word is said in jest and may be a more productive means of
getting the info out there. Super serious types think everyone will if given a CD or a 350 page book would read it or view the contents. Chances are the majority, even those with good intentions, won't get around to it.

Which is why getting them to spend 5 minutes on http://bushcheated04.com

and another 4 minutes viewing http://bushcheated04.com/loser.html

could just cause them to be willing to check out http://bushcheated04.com/links.html which of course could result in them spending an extended period of time reading the voluminous material that suggests that BushCheated04.com though a parody is probably true.

66. You are correct, somewhat
but until we realize that Dave, Bill and Jon are working for the same companies that gives us the supposed news, we will get nowhere.

I like to call it the "Window Where the Masses Won't Wake Up" thats 6 months before an election and 2 months after, thats where they will ALLOW election news on TV, DEAN and STEWARD come to mind, because both did a show 6 months prior to the 2004 election and Air America was able to talk freely about it up until 1 in a half months after, and not a word since.

ThatS because the masses 6 months before an election will think "conspiracy theorist" and a couple months after an election will think " sore losers" thats the "Window Where The Masses Won't Wake up" to the possibility of election theft. So on TV and Radio everyone is FREE to talk about the election theft, thats the Window Where The Masses Won't Wake Up.

Outside of that 8 month window, election fraud is only permitted in joke FORM.

19. But wait, there's more!
"It was so hot down in Florida Jeb Bush was rigging ice machines." --David Letterman

"Florida Governor Jeb Bush announced that to avoid any election return problems in Florida this year, this time he is going to announce the results before people go into vote." --Jay Leno

"Governor Jeb Bush of Florida announced he was running for re-election. Not only did he announce he was running for re-election, he also announced what his final vote count would be." —Jay Leno

I think they *do* get it. But saavy guests to keep hammering the point would be great! :)

(BTW, these were just Jeb jokes. Probably more jokes about election fraud were aired.)

Maria Pope (Executive Producer of The Late Show With David Letterman)

Maria Pope, who was named an executive producer of the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN in May 2000, began her association with David Letterman in 1982.

She started as an intern at "Late Night with David Letterman" during the summers of 1982 and 1983, began working full time as a receptionist at the late-night talk show in May 1984 and was soon promoted to writers' assistant. During the next 10 years, Pope held several positions with Letterman's writing staff, including writers' researcher, segment coordinator, segment producer and writer.

For many years, she coordinated the videotaped remote segments, including the much-heralded appearance of Dave's mom, Dorothy, at the 1994 Olympic Winter Games and "Mujibur & Sirajul Across America." In 1996, she was promoted to senior segment producer and produced interview segments with guests ranging from Richard Simmons to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Pope became a producer for the LATE SHOW in 1998 and has won five consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002).

A native Texan, born in Austin and raised in Houston, Pope was graduated in 1984 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a B.A. in journalism and English. She lives in New York.

Ben Karlin (Executive Producer of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart)

Ben Karlin joined "The Daily Show" as head writer in 1999 and has served as an executive producer for the series since 2003. During his time with the show he has received four Emmy Awards. In addition, Karlin and the series were awarded a Peabody Award for its "razor-sharp coverage of the 2000 presidential campaign." Prior to his work at "The Daily Show," Karlin was an editor of The Onion, a satirical weekly newspaper that he joined while still in college at the University of Wisconsin.

Izzy Povich (Executive Producer Of Countdown With Keith Olbermann

I couldn't find a proper bio of her but there's a classic story about her here http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7873141/

Just saw it...even though I knew it was coming, I had a visceral reaction. My face even became flushed! I think I'm getting too wrapped up in this whole election thing.:-)

The audience response was pretty unique as well, not everyone seemed to know what the joke was about, but those who did certainly were grateful for the mention! Wow.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!! :bounce:

41. Here's Maher from 2004.
http://www.easternecho.com/cgi-bin/story.cgi?7080

BM: I think we could be headed for a debacle all over the country. For a country that's out there supposedly spreading freedom and democracy, we don't do democracy very well right here in our own country. And I've never understood why elections are not run federally. I don't know why, that they're something that you leave to the senior citizen down the street in his garage. And I don't understand why they say, "Well, if it's close we do a recount, but every time you do a recount you get a different number. You can never really know the votes down to the last one." Why? They do it with money. I never hear anybody at the bank say, "Hey, we don't know exactly how much this is, but it's pretty close. We hope we got it near to what's right."

Echo: Yeah, it's around such-and-such.

BM: Yeah, exactly.

Echo: So you're worried about that all over the country, then?

BM: Yes. I mean, I think a lot of it -- they're trying new voting machines. A lot of the new voting machines, they don't have a paper trail; they're completely computerized. The head of the voting machine company, Diebold, said he's a fervent Bush backer. What sort of football game would it be if the referee came out in the middle and said, "You know what, I am just a die-hard Packers fan"?

And how about this:

BM: Well, they're more united than they have been in the past. I'll give that to them. They really want to beat George Bush. Of course, the problem isn't beating him; it's convincing him that he lost.

Also ... I didn't know he had a blog on HuffPost. Wow! :toast:

59. Maher had a great interview with Gore Vidal that addressed voting machines
Unfortunately, Al Franken was there to water the discussion down. :(
(He doesn't believe 2004 was stolen. Wouldn't he be great in Congress? x( )

May Thursday 19th 2005
Bill Maher show openly discusses vote fraud, smoking gun memo and the truth about Iraq

Clips from the last Bill Maher show of the season with Al Franken, Liz Marlantes and GORE VIDAL!

Okay, let’s get to it. Ohio, what went wrong in Ohio? The Democrats seem to be in two camps about losing the last two elections. One camp says, “Get over it! You know, you’re making us look worse by just belaboring the fact that we lost to this man.” And the other side says, “No. There are irregularities and they’re stealing elections. And the one thing the Democrats shouldn’t do is get over it.”

GORE VIDAL: Well, I quite agree. We shouldn’t. If we’re to have a republic. And after the 2000 election, somebody said, “Do you think he’ll get re-elected?” I said, “Well, he hasn’t been elected, so far.” “But he may be reappointed by the Supreme Court.” But I said, “Look, he’ll lose again, but he’ll probably serve a second term, because they’ve got four years between 2000 and 2004 to make sure that he gets an overwhelming vote from Diebold, the electronic machines

MAHER: Yeah, I mean, the thing that I found disturbing about this - and I’m not a conspiracy theorist - is that everybody agrees there were irregularities. And when you say that, the Republicans go, “Well, shit happens.” Except that all the shit favored Bush. All the shit that happened seemed to favor one guy. That does strike me as-

LIZ MARLANTES: The Republicans will, if you ask them - I mean, they will offer up certain examples of things they think went wrong that didn’t favor them, like dead people being on the voting rolls in Ohio . They will point to irregularities that didn’t work in their favor as well.

VIDAL: Well, there’s one interesting irregularity. There were three third-party candidates that nobody in Ohio had heard of, except perhaps their mothers--and they’re on the ballot. They got more votes, just three of these people that nobody knew, than Kerry, who was the best-financed Democratic candidate for president in years. Now, that’s very odd.

<snip>

There’s a link to the “full transcript”, but it doesn’t seem to work.
