CA Sen. Debra Bowen Interview on KTMS Radio - Archived for Streaming.
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 09:40 PM by nicknameless
Senator Bowen was on the Paul Berenson Show on KTMS Radio in Santa Barbara (March 4)

Slot machines seem to be the theme of the day. Here’s an excerpt from the site:

Sec. of State Bruce MacPherson has certified voting machines with documented security flaws, refuses to hold public hearings, and now blows off the Senate Elections Committee. Sen. Debra Bowen (D-Redondo Beach) joins us to talk about this, voting machines, and slot machines.

3. Why "Oops"? It's the link her office sent.

4. There are two Bowen Interviews, that I see on that page.

The one you referred, ""Interviews with statewide office holders" on right side of web page" is from Oct. 2K5.

The more recent one, I'm guessing you were trying to share, is mentioned down the middle column.

So I put both up.

Thanks for posting.

I take it her interview is in hour 2.
Thanks for the mp3 link

Edit: It didn't help that they mis-dated their March 11th show as March 4th. I waited through some other guy's interview for Bowen.

6. Yes. Hour 2.

If you want cut and paste your post onto the Daily Thread, and point to this discussion thread.

She's talking about the subpoenas being prepared to force testimony from the vendors and the ITA. Says she thinks colleagues on the rules committee will go for it. She says that the vendors and ITA's will resist disclosure.

She said the email campaign to the other members of the Senate Elections Committee, organized by bbv, was therefore unnecessary, but helped highlight the concern.

She says individuals can sue to stop deployment, but sounds like she cautions that that is not iron-clad.

7. I hope she's right about the other Rules Committee members
supporting her subpoena request. I became very concerned after calling Perata's office.

9. Yes.
The other Dem seems to be on board. Not sure about Perata though. Maybe the person taking his calls was just an idiot.
She was trying to convince me that our only recourse, re Diebold, was to call McPherson and persuade him to change his mind.

10. That ain't the ONLY recourse, but may be a good one, anyhow.
Court order or legislation would be nice, too.

But calling McPherson (and calling him on what he has and has not done) is in order. If nothing else there is a record.

But one of the most important things (and I regret not having researched) may be to contact the BoE's that are looking to buy anything other than Vote-PAD, and ask them if they realize the straights they're in.

The SoS certification holds the counties responsible, in all ways, if they employ a system that doesn't meet the standard.

Perhaps McPherson handed us something, there?

I worry, though, that I'm not aware of a lawsuit apart from what Guv is doing.

11. McPherson won't listen to the State Senate or constituents.
3,400 people signed and sent the email to him, which was provided by Bowen.
He responded to our email campaign with more lies.

Re: McPherson's buck-passing. So many of the BoEs appear to be in on the fraud. (McCormack etc.)
Do you really think that they care about compliance with laws?
What is the likelihood that any negative consequence will result if more laws are broken?

Maybe there are some honest BoEs left who would be interested. (Assuming that Vote-PAD has been certified for use in CA)

I'm certainly all for GuvWurld's approach. It seems to be a very logical and effective strategy.

13. A good name for him would be Bob N. Weaver.

And I wish I could remember the name of the BoE who said violating the Voting System Standard would be like a traffic fine.

And I'd like to hear some legal opinion from our side.

One BoE you'll like is in Yolo County. She's going to use VOte-PAD. I read she declined using even AutoMark because ES&S refused disclosing things she didn't feel comfortable not seeing.

Sounds like she wants a transparent system.

14. I read a little about Yolo county when I was looking up Vote-PAD
certification. Good for her! Yolo also uses DataVote. Wonder what their track record is like.

We have to make penalties for election fraud severe. Traffic infraction fine, huh? What a patriot.

15. Excellent interview -- wide-ranging on the topic of election fraud.
Not just about California.

The Bowen quote for the day:

“The ballot is what distinguishes a democracy from a dictatorship.”
