Kerry "unconceding email" was a hoax by repuke tricksters
I just received the below in my email this AM. I don't want to post the whole email because there is other material in it that I don't want to publicly post.

(Go to the link if you want to read more)

Kerry's Brother Vote Fraud Email Busted as Repug Hoax

A Tallahassee lawyer has checked out the source of the email asking that reports of vote fraud to be sent to Kerry's brother and determined it is a hoax. Not that the email addy(s) were wrong, but that it apparently was a scam to clog the email system at Cam Kerry's law firm. Buzzflash sent out a news alert from Cam Kerry asking that vote fraud reports be sent to the DNC's Voting Rights Institute at vri@dnc.org. see - Cameron Kerry: Send Voting Problem Info to DNC - http://www.buzzflash.com/alerts/04/11/ale04089.html

message from Tally lawyer:

"This message is a fraud designed to clog Cam Kerry's e-mailbox with heartbreaking stories. The address checks out to another law firm, Gura & Day, not Cynthia L. Butler's own law firm. Her name doesn't check out at all. And Christopher M. Day is listed at www.rnla.org (Republican National Lawyers' Association) under 'Find a Republican Lawyer!' Folks, there's a lot of bogus info out there on the Net in case you didn't know. Be skeptical. No lawyer uses words like 'unconcede'. There are other red flags here also."

1. Has nobody asked Cam Kerry about this yet?
The letter has been read on television, too. Nobody thought to just call Kerry up and ask him about it?

2. I have no clue
I received emails from large groups earlier in the week that claimed Cam Kerry had been contacted and was directing complaints to somewhere else, but after getting burned on the first hoax email
that said people should contact Cam Kerry, I was leery about posting them.

I posted this because buzzflash is backing it up.

I don't get burned that often by hoaxes, but I posted the first bogus email I received, without trying to verify Cynthia Butler's identity and hence made an ass of myself (and accidentally aided in the spreading of the hoax...which pisses me off!)

7. To clog Cam Kerry's email and to screw with Kerry supporters
This would be right up a Freeper's alley...they pull crap like this all the time just to amuse themselves.

5. I personally emailed the Cam Kerry address
and got back an email directly from that address, as above, asking me to send the info to the DNC email box above. The Cam Kerry email address was the same as his law firm's name so I did check it out that much.

I never thought Kerry's possible unconcession would be announced via an email on a newsgroup, but HEY, wtf, the email address was valid and it sounds to me like Cam Kerry heard us.

All I want is 1) to be heard and 2) an investgation.

Here's hoping the lawyers in Ohio are listening to Olbermann.

8. The email address was indeed valid
The "hoax" part of the story was that Cam Kerry wanted reports of irregularities because he was personally handling the issue.

With any luck Cam Kerry forwarded all the problems to the correct source... and the jerks that came up with the initial scam email accidentally screwed themselves!

Let's hope!

9. I think I was first or second to post it
I got it forwarded to me by a good friend (that I trust) who had received it from "Democracy Depot" (I don't know a thing about that group)

I think later in the evening, I received the thing about 4 times from assorted large email groups--it definitely made the rounds.

12. a good thing to consider...
This should remind us of the imporance of checking the source of emails and the information provided by other bloggers/websites. Every accusation that is made will be put under a great deal of scrutiny by the right in an attempt to completely discredit any questions about the election. We should be more careful.
