So I just talked to a local election law lawyer re: petitions.

We have the evil touch screens in my county during early voting, and more are on the way, purchased by the County Commissioners.

BUT, in some cases, it is possible for citizens of the area (not sure if it's city or county) to circulate a petition to get a new law on the books. Anyhoo, you file to start the petition, then you circulate the petition, you have to get so many sigs in 60 or 90 days, and then you get to have an election on the new law.

So... she's looking into it. Keep your fingers crossed for us.. There's so much leftover energy here, if we are allowed to do this, I bet we could get the f*cker circulated and finalized before the end of the year.

Well, maybe not quite THAT quick. :D

So, hey, other states, counties, municipalities... think about it, hey? Californians, ya'll have statewide initiative and referendum, right? what other states do have I&R?
