ACT FOR CHANGE IS NOW ON BOARD! Asking for an investigation!
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 07:53 PM by mzmolly

I am writing to urge you to join your colleagues, Representatives Conyers, Scott, Nadler, Watt, Wexler and Holt, in calling on the Government Accountability Office to immediately undertake an investigation of the efficacy of electronic voting machines.

Now that November 2 has come and gone, some disturbing reports of problems with electronic voting machines have surfaced. For example:
* In Columbus, Ohio, an electronic voting system reported that Bush received 4,258 votes while Kerry received 260 votes in a precinct where records show only 638 voters cast ballots;
* In North Carolina, a machine lost more than 4,500 votes due to a mistaken assumption about the memory capacity of a computer;
* In Youngstown, Ohio, and South Florida, numerous voters complained that when they tried to cast votes for Kerry, the machines instead recorded their votes for Bush.

All in all, more than 30,000 complaints have been gathered from across the country, and the Internet is heating up with rumors and innuendo that the results of the election were somehow tampered with. In the midst of such turmoil, it's crucial that an independent authoritative investigation be undertaken to sort this all out.

Please join your colleagues in calling on the GAO to immediately investigate these incidents.

Please let me know how you intend to proceed on this issue.

Sincerely,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ... ACT FOR CHANGE!!

:toast:

Keep it kicked :kick:

Feel free to post in another forum as well.

2. Why the hell did Kerry concede?
The 527's are already jumping on board to investigate this, but John Kerry is sitting in his cave somewhere in Massachussets crying the night away. Do something John!

9. Concession a mere formality
Not legally binding.

I think this issue has been addressed about 350 times on DU. Kerry is staying above the fray, not to be tarred and feathered with the "sore loser" tag they stuck on Gore.

19. Not conceding
would have worked much better. He could have still stayed out of it and said let's take a wait and see attitude and sent the lawyers in.

6. If anyone here isn't using Working Assets for their
long distance, you should consider it. The rates are comparable and it's great knowing you are supporting this company. I have used Working Assets for my long distance phone, my cell phone and a credit card, and except for the credit card, I'd highly, highly recommend doing it.

13. LETTER TO BOB WOODWARD? WHERE ARE YOU BOB?
Dear Mr. Woodward: Why have we not heard from you about this? You are the one we always depend on to keep tabs on us in America. You are the one that we know will go after the true story and break it. Why is everyone silent on this? Surely the Washington Post, the epitome of the free press and supporter of our Constitutional amendments for freedom of speech and the press, has not gone silent also? I read you recent book and between that, Senator Byrd's "Losing America", & Kevin Phillips "American Dynasty"...we have a wealth of information that something sinister has taken over America. Will you not please SPEAK OUT AND STAND UP FOR THOSE THAT HAVE A VOICE BUT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE IT? We depend on you for the truth. We know this is bigger that Watergate. This is the undermining of the America at its core. We know in our hearts that this is true. Please help to show either that there was not fraud or vote manipulation so we can have faith in our system again...or show this for what it is. The people need you now more than ever....please do not let us down now....please let us hear from you on this. We have not much time left to take a stand. The underground newspapers are going crazy with this. But it is oddly quiet in the mainstream press, not to put you in that category...but you know what I mean. There is a petition going around the nation...it is copied at the bottom of this article regarding Democracy. This petition started 48 hours ago. Within 12 hours, it had 2000 names, within 24 hours it had 4800 names, tonight it has approximately 16,500 names. The people demand an accounting... proprietary information, BULL! Those are our votes, and be damned that any machine company should have the right that we should "just trust them"! This administration has been doing the same thing with the Senate regarding the purse strings and accountability with the economy and the war. They have done this with the Patriot Act, keeping it from Senate view. They want to undo every program that benefits the citizens of America for this crazy war that we can never win, or will win! We are not a fascist country yet, are we? Where are you BOB? We need you ferreting on this...please do not let us down?

Do We Still Have a Democracy?

15. I think Carl Bernstein may be more receptive. He hates the Bushies.
He calls this the most radical Presidency in history.

Get busy then...I need help here....cut and paste my article to him if you want...just let us get the word and the furor out there. We have got to get this thing going so we can mobilize those that do not even know we are under the wire here. Then, we will really get some pissed off people on this wagon. The train si moving...it is like Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Rainier waiting to blow. Anytime, now. Especially since the word is rumbling of the draft that we were promised would never happen. Lied to again and so soon after the words spewed forth. Within weeks of the promise. They want to undermine every good thing about this country and bankrupt us for this crazy war that we can never win. We fight the homefront war on terror of the people and the vote or regret doing nothing years from now when we will have lost the freedom to do exactly what we are doing now!

20. Um, actually
in the fine Democratic tradition, Woodward rolled. Haven't you seen his books on *. The first one fawned, the second one almost as much fawning. Yuck.

Do you not see that we have to get the word OUT THERE TOO? Get on the phone, get the emails going ...get your letter and then cut and paste 100 times to every friggin' person listed on the news contact page. It is not that hard. I cannot do this, and you cannot do this, by ourselves. Get the heck out and speak UP! Hiding under the cover of darkness does no good. Get the message. We have to do everything and we do not have much time. So get the move! Please, I implore you. Please.

18. I'm with you....
A form letter is just so much easier for my friends and family. I can direct them to the web site and get a much better turn out from those that are not so involved as I. I'm continuing to do everything I can and am committed. No problem with that. Thanks to you for posting this and making it easier for us.
