DON'T PIN YOUR HOPES ON NH. IT COULD BE A ROVE TRAP.

NH IS A SMALL STATE. IT MEANT NOTHING TO ROVE. ONLY 4 EV.

FOCUS ON THE CRIME. DO NOT BE DIVERTED. THEY ARE DIABOLICALLY CLEVER. BUT WE ARE SMARTER.

THEY MAY BE CREATING A STRAWMAN IN NH. I NEVER BELIEVED KERRY HAD A 14% LEAD THERE.

REMEMBER. IT'S FLORIDA AND OHIO AND OTHER BIG ELECTORAL VOTE STATES.

DO NOT FOCUS ON NH. YOU DO SO AT YOUR PERIL.

I DO NOT TRUST NADER.

KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL.

1. They are always trying to distract us.
Like with the civil unions in Mass., or the Peterson trial. We have to stay "deadly focused".

2. How do you answer the argument...
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 02:41 PM by Goldmund
...that since NH is a small state, it will be easy to recount, and that it also represents a good cross-section of different vote-counting types (Opt. Scan, EV, paper)?

Also, isn't NH one of the states where the discrepancy between exit polls and actual results was the largest?

And wouldn't a discovery of fraud in NH set a precedent for other states to recount?

5. Not trusting Nader?
This is exactly the kind of arena where Nader can excel.

Exit Polls...that's the key to all of this.

3. Starting with too few EV.
But if we choose to recount a state with too few EV, and we get stymied, even if we're right, they'll say well its only four votes anyway, and figure out a way to stop us from recounting florida and ohio. they always have trix up their sleeves.

4. I do not work for Karl Rove.
I couldn't reach the Kerry people for anything (they were all in retreat mode), and the deadline was there. *I* approached the Nader folk. This is the THIRD election there with wonky numbers -- the 2002 election, and the primaries. What don't you like about *MY* strategy (which I publicly posted about as it was developing last week)???

14. security of paper ballots

I don't share TIA's objections because I think the exit polls are reliable - but I'm worried about the paper ballots a little bit. If they manage to fake the paper ballots, this would be a big (but not decisive) setback indeed.

Where are the ballots stored, and how? Do you have information to destroy my worries?

17. I am all for NH and value your work. There is no argument here.
In fact, fraud has been rife in NH since Poppy Bush stole the primary against Bob Dole in 1988!

I am only saying that we should approach this with all eyes open.

Again, Ida, you know me. I tell it like it is. I may be a little paranoid here. But we have to consider all possible spin.

21. Valid point - my apologies for defensiveness!
And I just told Andy we have to make this an "egoless" issue, and proceed on evidence! Sigh. I'm just hoping they didn't think to cover their tracks in New Hampshire and got as sloppy as we think they did....

6. they are mounting an offensive right now.
it's going to be ugly, and we need our best people to be thinking like Rove and their other huge slimeballs, like dick morris. we've got to figure a way to outfox them legally. we must.

8. I like your strategy, but.....
it makes me worry that all this out in the open-ness is giving them plenty of time to debunk ohio and florida while your busy working on little new hampshire.

12. Strategy...
The Nader people can focus on NH, others can keep their focus on Ohio and Florida. All will need our financial help.

20. I assume your post was not directed at me. I agree that OH and FL are key
Bush had to win BOTH FL and OH. I already calculated the odds of this in a prior thread - 1 out of 667.

That is where we must concentrate the fight.

Don't get me wrong. Recount NH. But expect massive spin.

15. I did not hijack your thread. It occurred to me that there is a
tremendous focus on NH. I know the Exit Polls there were too much in Kerry's favor.

So that's why I posted. I feel its important to be wary.

Why NH? Why not OH or FL or PA or NC or VA or CO?

Let's get EVERYTHING recounted.

18. ok, no problem, but the reason for NH is that it is small and
can be quickly and cheaply (relatively) checked. Before anyone (the big spenders like Soros) commits millions to OH or Fla or any of the others they are going to want to see some indication that there may be something worthwhile to spend their money on.

Let give him a benefit of doubt.
