For those still worried about MSM and US population
(if this is a repost of same info please delete or lock)

There are still a few comments to be found on DU concerning the MSM and it's impact on the US population.

Well take a look at the article below and be your own judge on how well MSM is doing.

http://www.newshounds.us/2005/05/18/fox_news_in_ratings_free_fall.php#more

Fox News in Ratings Free Fall
Here's something you won't hear on Fox News -- ratings for the cable
news channel have been plummeting since before the November election.

According to TV Newser, the number of people watching Fox during prime
time in the 25 to 54 age bracket dropped in April for the sixth straight month.

TV Newser cited a CNN press release which gave these totals for Fox's
primetime audience in the 25 to 54 age bracket: Oct. 04: 1,074,000; Nov.04: 891,000; Dec. 04: 568,000; Jan. 05: 564,000; Feb. 05: 520,000; March 05: 498,000; April 05: 445,000. That amounts to a decline of 58 percent, with no sign of leveling off.

----

The listening / viewing audience is getting smaller by the month. Real small. Who's Karl going to beam his messages too if only the absolute 'hard core' punch-drinkers are watching? An audience sample that small has no value.

Let's see where we and * stand at the end of the next 3 months.

Interesting times indeed.

1. Hopefully viewers aren't moving even further to the right... the 700 Club

2. Uh, you'll notice that they don't have viewers any longer...
That's the problem for THEM. People, according to the ratings, are turning off the "news" channels.

This is one of Karl's worst nightmares come true.

4. Uh, I noticed they don't have the same viewership numbers.
I'm curious where these viewers are going and where they are getting their news from now. That is an important part of the equation the statistic doesn't not address (I know, it's only ratings numbers.) If these viewers are turning to the 700 Club and the like for "news" (since theses programs have "news" segments) that terrifies me. At least on fox, occassionally, they might at least mention that there is someone who disagrees with * without calling them "godless" or a threat to our nation. This will sometimes happen on fox. On the 700 Club and other similar programs, they call anyopne who disagrees with * a threat to America.

6. Dude, that's not it
These people are giving up on the corporate controlled media.

Where are you getting your news and information?

RIGHT HERE.

THE INTERNET.

INDEPENDENT MEDIA.

That's the new media.

Corporations no longer control the minds of America.

And with how they screwed Isikoff? The press now knows that no one is safe if they step out of line, so all of the media is stepping out of line now.

Just look at this Drudge Report story. The media is no longer on Rove's leash, and the news outlets are coming out to defend Newsweek.

It's turning into impeachment time live.

So please, don't act so defeated, you're winning by default because they're losing.

8. I'm not acting defeated. I'll just believe it when I see it.
I'm not giving up... but I am getting more and more cynical by the moment. When I saw this headline, I just wondered "hum... where have all the fruitcakes gone?"

God, I hope you are right.

Welcome to DU! :hi: Hope you're able to sustain your positive outlook! (I meant that sincerly, not sarcastically, I swear it!) :)

7. LOL...let's hope he loses more. WTF is American Idol?
Is that the one where the judge partied with a contestant. Sounds like SCOTUS in Gore v. Bush!

9. You know what worries me?
That the bad ratings will make Rove & Co. decide that they need "another Pearl Harbor" to revive their cause...

11. Let them try, it will be their final failure
Look at the pattern?

Attempt - Fail
Attempt - Fail

So let them try and let something happen.

They will get exposed.

And America will cry for their blood.

13. That just might do the opposite.
If they ever attempted it, that just might make them be forced out of their Capital Hill.

When it comes down to it, radicals are cowards. Cowards hiding beneath a hating message.
