Boston Globe Story On Vote Fraud
Mostly dismissive of the story as "internet conspiracy theories"

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/11/10/internet_buzz_on_vote_fraud_is_dismissed/

At least they wrote about it. You can e-mail the author Alan Wirzbicki at rklein@globe.com. Maybe if you provide him some hard evidence he'll continue writing about it and change his tone. My view is at least the story broke into the paper, now change the tone.

1. Screw the media.
WE, the PEOPLE are getting vote audits in OH, NH, and maybe FL. The "media" can follow along as we take the saving of democracy into our own hands. It will take a while for them to wash the blood off their's.

2. Time to wake up
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 12:24 PM by kvining
Like most, I am hopeful that something might happen to change the outcome of the election, but let's face it - we lost the popular vote by 3 million votes. While it is conceivable that fraud could have happened in the one or two states that tipped the election, a fraud of 3 million votes is a real stretch. Lets face it folks, this party has real problems. We have totally lost the young white working class vote, the heart and soul of the democrat party since the Great Depression. We have allowed the Repugs to make big inroads into other constituencies as well. I really fear that this vote fraud issue is going to cause us to stick our head in the sand - we got clobbered, and it is time to face up to it.

The Repugs have become superbly organized, with a media machine that runs a 24/7 operation on message everywhere in the country, and it was this monster that has been stripping away the white working class voters from us for years, while we totally, totally missed what was going on. Instead of Winston's TV set on the wall in the novel "1984", the Repugs have converted the AM radio in the workingman's car into the same thing. The "talk show hosts" (aka Repug operatives) use the Internet to communicate among themselves to make sure they are all talking about the same thing all across the nation on any given day. They only peddle one thing - outrage - and they only blame one thing - us - for everything.

To ice the cake, they now have added a cable "news" channel in Fix, which spreads the same lies and makes them into headlines, and they are now making huge in roads into other cable news channels as well. With this massive multi-media machine, they have convinced average working people that we are not to be trusted. We have failed miserably at countering this.

Success breeds success. The most ominous thing I have seen here in Houston, is they are now putting "local" black right wing hosts on the air - what the hell, they got something that works, they stole our core constituency with it while we did nothing, and now they are going to do the same to the black people - saturate the airwaves with one message - we are terrorist loving traitors who want to kill god and let gays bang their kids. Its time to smell the coffee guys, we blew it. We need to learn from our enemies.

This is no longer win-lose politics in this country. These media techniques grew out of psy-op warfare research during the Cold War. Its meant to do the same thing to the Democrats that it was designed to do to the Russians- destroy us. They are going to smash us into three ineffective parties and rule America as a One Party State. Time to WAKE UP! Instead of obsessing on the ballot situation, we need to ask ourselves how we are going to build a media machine to counter this. They've also taken over CNN, MSNBC, via the boardroom. Those once friendly media outlets don't have the overt partisanship of Fox News, but they have turned into back stabbing bastards - the Sunday before the election, Tim Russet's Meet the Press savaged Kerry brutally and unfairly, running Swift Boat Ads as "news items". He did the exact same thing to Gore in 2000. If you follow mediamatters.org, you'll see all the mainstream media fucked us for some reason. We need to start recognizing that as part of the new reality too. Like the Repugs, we need to find some type of mass media to dominate and control.

If we don't get more organized and figure a way to get our message out in this new mass media environemnt of the Internet age, we are dead. First thing we need to start with is this website. There are so many threads and they are so poorly organized that it is incoherant - hell it looks just like the Democratic Party. If we don't wake up, we are screwed.

I also want to take a sec to strongly advocate that we do everything possible to put Dean in charge of the party. He is the one person who has an Internet age vision of how this party should work, and it is something his organization did a superb job of in his otherwise flawed campaign. The Internet is our chance to build a message machine to counter the Orwellian Ministry of Information currently run by Reichfurhers Limbaugh and Murdoch.

Putting Dean in charge has nothing to do with his politics or viewpoints - I advocate it strictly because in the time I volunteered for his campaign I recognized they had tremendous skills in these Internet areas, and man, we are going to need just those skills. We need to dominate the Internet the way the Repugs dominate AM radio. It is our only hope. I hope all of you realize what an utter disaster this election was for us and the huge task we have before us, and how if you really love your country you will give it all you got to change the entire direction of this party. We need to become organized, and cut back on the outrage and start thinking clearly. I fear this vote fraud thing will go nowhere. Our house has burned down, and only we can build another one.

4. It's not 3 million votes we need but
136000 in Ohio. Secondly, even 3 mill is nothing if you've got computers doing the counting that can't be verified.

5. Don't Believe The Hype
Don't believe the media spin that somehow the country rejects Democrats. This is the first time in 16 years that the country, nationwide, gave more vote to the Republican candidate than the Democratic candidate.

6. I am not saying
the country rejects the Democrats. I am saying one of our core constituencies now reject us. The Onion article posted on the first page says more about how we have failed tahn any analysis. We are going to get absolutely nothing out of re-counting the votes this time around. We lost, and it is time to start taking a hard, hard, look at ourselves. We were out-organized, out-debated and now we are out of office. This party needs to find a whole new direction to win back what should be natural constituencies for the Democrats.

... YES we need to be on the lookout for voter fraud. It is one thing AMONG MANY that stink in our political system right now.

... BUT it's not going to change the outcome of the election. It was close, but we lost. A lot of people here are just in denial about that, still clinging to some shred of misplaced hope. Instead of looking to the future, which is grim but changeable, they are wasting their energies trying to figure out (a) how to prove that the election was stolen; and (b) who to blame for Kerry losing (hint: Kerry). In other words, safely useless speculation, hand-wringing, and woulda shoulda couldaing.

The harsh truth is:

... we were beaten.

... until we figure out a way to counterbalance the effect of the RW media ideosphere, we are going to keep being beaten.

... until we figure out a way to reclaim the language of "values" "beliefs" and "liberalism" we are going to keep being beaten.

... until we stop rolling over in the Congress and start putting up a fight, we are going to keep being beaten.

12. All for it, but
Hey, I'm all for strategically rebuilding our party for the future, getting our voice out more, learning from the past, blah blah blah...But there is nothing wrong with waiting a few weeks to focus on that. Right now the electorate has not yet met. We have until Dec 12th to dig up what we can and do the best we can to expose the potential widespread fraud. That is important regardless of party affiliation, it is important for sake of Democracy. After Dec 13th I'm all on board for helping the Dem party to regain domination, while continuing efforts to improve our electoral system. But let's just wait a weeeee few weeks first. It won't hurt if all the 'we really need to look in the mirror' philosophical discussions wait until then. For now? You have 4 weeks to expose the possibility of the greatest scandal in american history. Let's just stay focused on that for now, shall we?

13. First things first...
if we don't get a secure way to vote, there will be no democracy, period. And this is our chance, now. Until this is resolved, all other discussions are beside the point.

9. Yep - for this we get vaccines, for flu no. But look at it this way -
it's growing and a big enough threat for them to have to start a fraud vaccination program.
If there was no truth to the fraud allegations why not let us investigate, find out the elections were clean, and then laugh at the fools we've made of ourselves?
These vaccines are a good sign.
