5. Loss for words as well Gary, nominated.... A reminder that should unite.
I wish we could buy airtime for something like this. When people talk about America not seeing the war this is exactly what they mean.

Another day, another seed of hate.

11. it's still hard for me to believe this is what's happening
But it is. No denying it.

Our media should be broadcasting this. But no--our airwaves have been taken from us, just like the choice of how our hard-earned tax dollars will be spent.

13. Hard to watch...
Heartbreaking... heart-rending... how many more?...
Why is this happening? We should all be driving around in hover-cars... not this endless Catch-22 madness...
I feel so... bushed lately...
Just enough energy to kick and nominate...
Peace.

18. question about number of US soldiers dead
at the 2 year anniversary protest, I got in a "discussion" (argument) with a vet who was pro-war. He said that the ~2,000 soldiers dead is inconsequential, because about that number of US soldiers die even when we're not at war, just from "accidents" and such. anyone know if this is even remotely true? do anywheres near 1,000 US soldiers die every year even when we're not in an overt war?

I think the guy had been listening to Limbaugh and Hannity too much.

22. Would have a lot of deaths at Ft. Bragg

I still remember 82nd Airborne having this division board that would say "# of days since last division fatality" and if that number reached 82 they got a 4-day weekend. In my time at Bragg 92-95 I rarely saw that number go above 20.

I don't know about accidental deaths go to the area of 1,000 a year though. I guess I can see it being in the range of like 600-700 counting all branches.

26. When will this madness end?
Two years of thousands of people dying. Two years of listening to this government trying to say what we are doing is good for the Iraqis. Yet the only CRISIS that this administration says we have is Soc. Sec....damn them.

P.S.

Johnny Cash may you rest in peace. :toast:

Iraqi forces desert posts as insurgent attacks are stepped up

Iraqi army and police units are deserting their posts after the recent escalation in insurgent attacks, according to reports from around the country yesterday.

The end of a relative period of calm after the election has posed the first real test for the embryonic security forces since coalition troops started cutting back on their military operations in February.

On average 20 Iraqis and two coalition soldiers have died every day this month.

Suspected Sunni insurgents set off two bombs yesterday near a Shia mosque in Baghdad that killed at least 15 people.
